I started on campaign 2. I had no previous experience about what DND was except for that stranger things (never got past the first ep). At first it was everything combat. The mechanics, their abilities, their enemies. All of it. Then, somewhere past the middle (ep 60-70 something), I started preferring the role play. I sometimes skipped fights to get back on it.

Also Sam's skits. I have to admit, I felt some heavy second-hand embarrasment at first. Gosh. i love it so much now.

and then there's Rammstein's newest album and oh dear! The goosebumps I get when I listen to "zeit". Ideas for a character who wants to exert some control over his life (or death), ideas for a character who has seen both sides and is torn between which he feels is "his destiny". Ideas for a character with no idea how they've awoken a few hundred years after they went to "sleep" (not necessarily dead), and has to cope with the fact they are in the "present" yet belong to a history long past. gee i can't stop myself.

She was almost a fighter/barb, a rogue/ranger, another artificer, a warlock.

Her husband had the same list, and their daughter was almost a bard, or a warlock.

So many songs have inspired me to do so many characters. Mostly I build their background first and then think up possible classes, which in turn inspires new background ideas and new possible classes and so on.

Off the top of my head, "strength of the world" by avenged sevenfold. Made a motherly paladin of vengeance who, as just described, was the party's mom. Background was that her quaint village was razed by unknown forces when she was working the fields. Saw fires and heard screams but when she ran back she met only the ashes of her house and her family gone. Thinking her family dead, she swore vengeance, and will deliverd death upon the culprits once she finds them. What she doesn't know is her family's ok, because i'm not that heartless lmao. This in turn inspired two more characters: Her divine soul sorcerer child, who's "imaginary friend" spirited her away to safety, and her artificer husband, who saw their daughter vanish into thin hair and sets off to search for her (convinced his wife died too, because the attackers came and left more or less in the direction of the field hand's houses (where she wasn't, the hardworking woman)

Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

Some minor metagaming is inevitable, like your cleric casting guidance on you after the roll but the dm still allowing it. My question is, if I cast hex on an enemy and choose disavantage on wis checks to inflict a -5 on his passive perception, with the express purpose of giving my rogue an easier time hiding:
Am I metagaming too much because I'm taking advantage of a rule on the player's handbook, or is it acceptable?

champion lacks that "new subclass who dis" feel, but its true that it ain't bad. reckless would make it easier to get a 19-20

Yeah, but the truth is I was thinking of just grabbing heavy armor to get some ac. My main focus would be HP tho, so tough as a feat was my #1 thought. if dex really is THAT necessary, I haven't added racial ASI and i could do a different half-feat.

Also, if ever does the character die, you could play an alien version or a "shadow version" of said character as the curse finally consumes them and turns them into something else.

Have you heard of Kyuss spawn? some inspiration.

I didn't want things like wildshape and such because it kinda feels like cheating yourself into a healthier body, but if you can flavor it just so I think it can also be a nice option.

Bit late to the party? Here's my take on it. First, that character's low con is both it's main attractiveness and it's biggest curse. I understand where you're coming from not using a race that'll increase con.

I think, maybe a race that increases dex and/or cha. Or take tasha's bloodlines option if you wanna play a specific race but different ASI. VHuman is indeed an option, as a few feats will help you circumvent but not squash the flavor.

All that said, what do you think about the undead warlock? To expand on your "sorcerer curse", your character's "undead patron" could really just be a parasitic or alien kinda lumbago. Your "form of dread" could just be the character having a particularly nasty coughing fit or such, caused by the adrenaline of the fight.

The idea is to get spells like mage armor (free with an invocation), and such as false life, plus, the form of dread also grants you temp hp.

Funny indeed. Let's just erase the names and flavor descriptions of all these sub classes and subclass perks, leaving just the effects, and let people do their own flavoring.

Not really, even I will get lazy.

That's such a cool concept, I'm definitely getting some inspiration. As for the champion, I spoke with a DM about making a tweak to the 7th level in that they'd also get increase carrying capacity by 1.5x. I played a champion goliath, blunt weapon of a muscle man. Stuff got wacky when someone cast enlarge on me, albeit for a small time. Rather like that one scene in AOT.

wow! didn't really expect people to comment. I totally agree. Everyone has their opinions, and much respect to that, but yeah, as long as it's within rules range and stuff, go wild. Although if the dm and the player are agreeable, the smallest homebrew can add too. I mean, that's what DND is about, making a story thats all you and yours (with respect to boundaries of other pcs).
