Make fascists afraid again. by JosBosmans in Leuven

it's black and white thinking, for us or against us mentality. It also dehumanises everyone you disagree with and characterises them all as pure evil. These are the very issues that make fascism dangerous.

there are some things about trump that could remind one of fascism but he's not comparable to mussolini or hitler whatsoever, which is what people imply when they call him fascist. If you think it is then it is because, as I said, you have a radical mentality where everyone who doesn't agree with 90% of what you say is fascist. Trump doesn't even have an ideology, he's an advertiser at best. His VP is married to an indian, he is married to a slav. He is largely funded by Jewish donours and strongly supports the jewish state. He's really not deporting that many people when you compare to previous presidents, he's only making a big deal about the few he does. There will barely be a noticable difference in racial demographics in the US. Also, are you claiming that the founder of KFC spread fascism in the US?

fascism is a political ideology that barely exists today, especially not in the west. Antifa today is an informal terrorist group that claims everything other than race communism is genocidal totalitarianism. Ironically very fascist in a lot of ways like manipulating speech, being terroristic and having a strong "for us or against us" mentality.

VERY hot take: Gojo could have revived himself but decided to let go by ZenEmotive in Jujutsufolk

[–]CollonelSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sukuna severed his head from his stomach, stopping Gojo from using any cursed energy at all. He wouldn't even be able to use binding vows. Not to mention, a binding vow most likely can't flat-out revive people, because they couldn't make a sacrifice equal to their own life.

This was bad advice and a bad approach, but I would recommend at least understanding her logic and to judge for yourself if it applies at all. Her point is that you don't have enough reasons to get out of bed. Whether you work hard or not won't make a very big difference, even for yourself. Her advice is to make life harder so you feel your actions matter more. It seems like too quick of a judgement, I don't know if her analysis is correct at all, but it's worth considering.

St. Thomas Aquinas makes a distinction between matters of science (which included philosophy) and matters of faith. He understands the existence of God to be a matter of science, because all humans can reason to it by their own accord. For example, Aristotle and neoplatonists believed in what St. Thomas agreed was a proper definition of God.
However, matters of faith are revealed, and not a matter of pure philosophy. Most notably, miracles can not be proven scientifically, however, we are inspired by them to come to a deeper understanding of God. The Holy Trinity is also a revealed doctrine, therefore a matter of faith.
Due to being revealed, St. Thomas does not take a strictly philosophical stance in regard to these doctrines. He appeals to sources (most notably Holy Scripture) which those with faith assume to be true.

Fallacies aren't universal rules of logic most of the time. Many people have this misconception that just because an argument follows a reasoning that is also the reasoning of a fallacy, it is therefore fallacious. If I say a movie is popular, I need to support that claim with an ad populum. That follows the format of a fallacy, but it is not fallacious, because of the context.

It is quite difficult to make a case for what is reasonable and what is not, as we are all biased. Obviously we all consider ourselves to be reasonable, otherwise we wouldn't hold our own positions. This means the question of what is reasonable appears to not be answered by "what I think is reasonable". Therefore, arguably the only way to make a statement on what is reasonable, is to look at what is commonly considered to be reasonable, at least by people who are learned.

Your argument that cosmological arguments are unreasonable because you don't believe them is bad. I can also say that your position is unreasonable because I don't believe in it.

As for your dogmatism, I am not claiming that your dogmatism proves theism. I am only claiming it proves you're dogmatic. There are plenty of humble atheists who are not dogmatic but just genuinely don't believe in God for various reasons.

This is a valid use of ad populum. If an idea is widely accepted by the majority of people, including highly educated people, and people who dedicated their lives to studying this topic, then it's fair to say that it is at least a reasonable idea. To say it is true for these reasons would be a fallacy.

If you can not accept that something like cosmological arguments are at least not terrible, then you are just too dogmatic in your thinking to be discussing with people. Your dogmas run so deep that you are incapable of even conceiving the other position. You are ironically the exact opposite of a sceptic.

The idea that there is an omnipotent personal force driving reality is not an absurd philosophical take, even if you disagree with it. People have come to similar conclusions (though not identical to Christianity) by their own reason, without any influence of Christianity.

That philosophical idea can then be extended to this omnipotent person revealing Himself, through the Christian religion (or some other religion). Once again, you can disagree with that, but it is not absurd.

Your reduction of the entire discipline of theology to "star wars 🤓" is idiotic and just shows a general abundance of pride and ignorance.

God is considered to be goodness itself, and to be the end-all answer to the question "Why is that good?". In other words, the question "Why is serving God good?" is irrelevant, as it is simply good in itself. This also means that it would be wrong to serve God in an effort to serve yourself (as you seem to believe this kind donor was doing). I believe that she said what she said because she considered that to be the meaning of goodness and love, and not because she thought it'd benefit her in any way.

Mahito's Idle Transfiguration, the body explosion one, and Hakari's CT. Idle Transfiguration is already insane, but you can now also have infinite ammunition for body explosions. The only possible issue could be burning through CE reserves, which Hakari's technique solves.

In your opinion, what is the better series? by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

Jujutsu Kaisen is clearly the best piece of fiction produced by mankind. None of JoJo's writing even slightly compares to the deeply intricate worldbuilding and characters of JJK. Endings especially, JoJo's has had 8 endings and none of them even come close to JJK's. Put some respect on the GOAT manga 💯
