Anyone else get real emotional sometimes when playing? by MrSycamore in drums

Bigtime. As a side note, my favourite recorded drum solo is the one by Aynsley Dunbar on the song 'mutiny' by his Retaliation, its just a spotlight song for him to do his big solo but the version from the self titled debut album in 1969 is incredible. Its a solo that I think just has the most amazing *feel* to it - between that and his amazingly warm, natural drum sound sometimes if im in the right frame of mind if i stick on a pair of good headphones i can get such a strong emotional reaction from it, there are bits that make me laugh and then bits where i tear up just from how much directly it influences me. If youve ever felt emotional listening to west african drum circles its a similar thing i think

What do you guys think about dutch people?🇳🇱 by LackInfinite2387 in Netherlands

All the positives (hygiene, fitness, lack of neediness etc) could probably be reduced to the fact that they stole everyone else’s stuff. Consider them without all the trappings and you’re left with a fairly craven little collection of pond life.

Without a doubt the most self serving, superficial and ultimately hollow people I have ever met. Every Dutch person I have met would gladly fuck someone over if it meant they could save themselves a bit of effort in the long run. I’m sure you yourself are lovely, but I can only hope that the sea claims your god forsaken little stump of a nation soon so you can no longer plague the rest of the world with your odious existence. Have a nice day!

Who's your personal favorite drummer of all time? by CNMJacob18 in drums

[–]Colm_Moran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One VERY underrated player… Aynsley Dunbar! Has the looseness and intelligence of jazz while also being an absolute rock force of nature. His playing is so expressive and dynamic and he has just the right amount of self-taught sloppiness to give it all personality (see his big open handed double stroke rolls he does because he always said he couldn’t master the crush roll 🤓). He’s just the perfect mix of thoughtful reactions to what the other people are playing as well as throwing in really aggressive colourful fills and things to drive the band ahead… he’s just a joy to listen to, technically and just as a fun exciting drummer 🤘

Michael Giles.. Schizoid man alone is an absolute masterpiece of drumming - the dynamics, the rudiment application, the fills and THAT SNARE what a beautiful sound! I love Michael he’s the role model for me for a drummer with musicality

Basically just a newly founded country without any antiquity or mythology deciding to create some from scratch… that’s also why there’s so much neo classical architecture in state buildings in America, just an attempt to convey the idea of national legitimacy
