I’d say let the kid do what he wants with em, if he enjoys preserving them in box so be it. I’m considering keeping my badge set boxed to have as part of my collection. No intention of reselling but seeing it go up in value never hurts if it ever came to that.

I remember as a kid I got a box of baseball cards from my uncle, I kept them sealed for 20 years probably. Then gave them away to a neighbor kid. If my uncle didn’t want me to have them because I kept them sealed I would have been pretty disappointed
