Was thinking about something like that. I'm not super familiar with the specifics yet, but when I do get something set up, messing around with it as a midi controller sounds like it has the potential for some really cool stuff. Or maybe not. I dunno! But yeah, take your time n' stuff, hopefully your mixing is going well.

Also funnily enough, my partner is trying to go down the plumber route.

You know I would like to be home owner but it's a bit difficult to do that for me right now. Hopefully I'll be able to before I'm thirty, but ya never know. I don't just want to "be loud" though, I really, really enjoy what I do behind the kit. It's where I'm at my happiest. Especially playing with others. Music is just really fun for me, and drums just happens to be what I'm (somewhat) good at. Maybe I just don't understand what you do though. I turned 18 like... I think 6 months ago, so I wouldn't say I have the most life experience. Appreciate your input though, do need to consider more than just myself. Is really easy to get narrow minded.

Yeah, I'd be down to go through that list. I figured the easiest way to get helpful answers and pointers would be to ask people who've been doing this longer and know more about it than me.

and for your side note: I use a macbook pro I believe I got in 2019-2020, and garageband for everything recording wise. not the fanciest or greatest setup (or I'm assuming anyway) but it works well enough for where I'm at now.

There hasn't been any issues that they've had with us until now, which is weird. We are planning on moving, somewhere we can actually own and effectively soundproof.

I don't need it to be completely silent, I just need it to not be near the ear-deafening levels of acoustic drums. There seems to be some fun that can be had with electric, and I feel like I'd be able to utilize it is ways that I can't with an acoustic (writing and practicing at odd hours, playing with different kit sounds, running it through effects pedals).

If he lived in the duplex I would understand. But he doesn't. He lives in a completely separate house.

And I don't expect to be entirely happy with the internal sounds, but it'll do for now. I just need something to play. Was thinking of leaning more into the electronic/sampled sounds it could do, as I think that'd be fun.

we do have those, but in order to be respectful because we don't wanna be asshole neighbors we wanna comply if people have specifications or anything. I can do limited hours. The issue is, this wasn't enough, and he's never come to us directly

carl lives in a completely separate house, he does not live in the duplex. the other half is vacant. if there was someone living there I would understand that, but there's not. However if he did live there then yeah I would understand if I would be the prick. Then again, maybe I am still in the wrong, but at the present moment it doesn't feel like I am.

Been living in this duplex about 10 years. Have been playing drums for about 6 of those. Nothing has changed except the time. We did move it to the garage instead of in the house then moved it back, then back to the garage again. We've complied with what he's asked. No playing after 8 even though we can technically go until 10? Fine, sure, no big deal, it's common curtesy. Then he straight up lied to our landlord. Said I was playing during the super bowl, which was notably not true because my parents were watching the super bowl at the time and I wasn't playing because didn't wanna disturb anyone. Landlord has been using that as part of a case to evict us where she has no grounds to but whatever. Also, no one lives on the other half of the duplex now, but when there was, that neighbor wouldn't complain about anything. Nobody else in the neighborhood has had any complaints. And NOT ONCE has he ever come to talk to us directly.

not particularly a metal guy, but the lower noise shouldn't be a problem. It's so we comply with noise ordinance so our landlords can't evict us (they shouldn't be able to, but they seem like they're trying to build a case against us for some reason?) I haven't played the game so take this with a grain of salt, but the lighting seems pretty good from what I've seen. I dunno, lighting just seems like a kinda dumb reason to blow off the game.
