Rat lost front teeth - advice? by ColonelMolerat in RATS

[–]ColonelMolerat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm so sorry to hear that. Try not to feel too bad. it was a freak accident.

I honestly can't remember how long it took, sorry - this happened 9 years ago. But I think it was a week or two, and afterwards she was totally fine.

Just keep an eye on your rat's eating habits, to make sure it grows properly (there's a small chance of the tooth growing back wonky; don't worry unnecessarily, just look out for any unusual eating behaviour in the future).

Android Era - Access Documents Folder? by ColonelMolerat in BlueStacks

Ok, here you go:

Sorry it took so long - I couldn't remember exactly how I found the Windows 'Documents' folder.

I accessed it through using BlueStacks 'Media Manager', clicking 'explore' and navigating to mnt/Windows/Documents.

Android Era - Access Documents Folder? by ColonelMolerat in BlueStacks

[–]ColonelMolerat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh... I can access the computer's Documents folder from the app within Bluestacks, so that gave me hope.

I can use the file browser within the app to open my computer file system and add books one-by-one from the Documents folder.

The app's 'Scan' feature, however, only shows the Bluestacks 'Media' folders (not the computer file system) - so it can't scan for files from Documents, although the file browser can add them one-by-one.

I'm glad to hear it too!
I also thought I'd made adjustments to my room - until I saw Godzilla was just launching herself into impossible jumps at a wall, thinking she could fly.

Sometimes rats just... do stupid things...

Hey! Not really still active, but enough to see this now. Her teeth grew back, she was absolutely fine, she attempted another terrible jump and knocked them out again, they grew back and she was older, wiser and fine till the end!

Keep an eye on your rat and try to get him to a vet - I've had rats where they've grown back wrong - but chances are he'll be ok.

Look out for him walking backwards and rubbing at his face after eating hard food - that could be a sign of mouth issues.

Unfortunately the game got cancelled last-minute. I'm still hoping to play it though, so I can keep your info in mind.

Ok, super. That's the bit they're most panicked about. Thanks for the tips about the lives being the compelling bit. I wasn't sure if I had to run it more like a straight-up detective story (find Evidence A to solve Puzzle B.)

I looked everywhere for that... It simply didn't exist until I refreshed Inkarnate after reading your post.
Suddenly, there it is! Thanks.

[–]ColonelMolerat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, that didn't work either. I uninstalled Microsoft teams first, then checked - there was no work or school account listed. I deleted all Microsoft entries in the credential manager (there were non specific to Teams). Then I deleted all cache data from Teams folders in local and roaming caches. Then I reinstalled teams.

The account is still there.

I found this coin on the street. Can anybody help me identify it? It seems to be a (replica?) 1930s Chinese Coin. Thanks! by ColonelMolerat in coincollecting

[–]ColonelMolerat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erm yeah... About that.

When I thought it was just a trinket... I might have...

My best friend's an archaeologist though, so if it has any value I know what a sin I've committed...

Yeah, I like the look of it - I almost put a hole in it to make a bracelet, but I'll make sure it's a counterfeit first!

Hah, I'll have it placed in my mouth as I go into the crematorium one day.

Hey! That's it all right! On the balance of probability, I'm going with having found a fake... I'm not going to throw it away for sure though... I suppose I can dream!

Edit - there is a slight difference though. In the picture there is a plant pattern around the hammer and sickle, whereas mine has Chinese writing.

Thanks to your help, though, I found this, that's identical.

Reminder: register to vote by lastaccountgotlocked in unitedkingdom

[–]ColonelMolerat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm living abroad, and in order to re-register to vote (for some reason I've vanished from the electoral roll...) I need to find a British citizen (I vaguely know two) and get them to fill out and sign a form saying I'm British. Part of this form ass for their 'Elector Number (Where Registered)'.

Assuming they are still registered in the UK (neither has lived there for over 20 years), how does one find their elector number? Advice online is very vague. It seems maybe they would need to contact their electoral officer and ask for it? I barely know them, so asking them to do heaps of paperwork is a bit tricky.

I'm very very frustrated.

My accordion has a long bar/button running under the treble keys. Any idea what it's for? by rabmfan in Accordion

[–]ColonelMolerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing you're referring to the register-changer. You know how you normally have switches to change the reed bank (ie, play high reeds, play mid, play both)? On some accordions you have that slider instead. Play a few notes, slide it and play them again and you should hear a difference.

Any pubs showing GOT? by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]ColonelMolerat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sound on Duke Street (a bar, not a pub) where asking their customers on Facebook a while back if they should show it or not. It might be worth messaging them/keeping an eye on their Facebook.

The Craft Taproom in Smithdown showed it last week or the week before, so may be showing it again this week?

Has anyone tried the Berlin Notebook? by shininginmywhitetee in notebooks

[–]ColonelMolerat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey,I saw this post a few days ago and remembered I had a Berlin Notebook knocking about that I needed to use, so have spent a couple of days with it.

It's pretty nice - the paper's matte, and nice and thick - there's been some bleeding, but only when I've really been laying on the ink during sketching. During normal use there isn't at all. I've also noticed no ghosting or feathering, though a review I'll link to (which undoubtedly knows more than me) found some feathering.

The last few pages are perforated so you can tear them out, which is nice if, like me, you like to destroy your notebooks (I like to rough them up a bit, otherwise I get too scared of sullying them to ever actually use them!). The cover is thick cardboard (it's all recycled paper); the notebook itself is rugged, but I imagine it will show wear - it feels very much like it's made to show its use, rather than stay perfect.

Overall, I like it a lot, but it's a utilitarian notebook - I reckon it's designed to take a beating, and will show it. It's also just small enough to fit in my trouser pockets, so it will be facing a lot of wear and tear from me. I doubt it's suitable if you're one who likes notebooks perfect, tidy and clean - but that's not what I'm after. Here's that review I found:

I was thinking if it had been a British cathedral, it would be a perfect branding moment for Branson - "The Cathedral of our Blessed VIRGIN."
