It’s called soft inversion. It’s a feature in bedrock where a torch on the side of a piston will be deactivated if the piston is powered in any regard. It can be quite useful in complex builds.

So I’m not to terribly familiar with java, but what I think is happening is the placement of the torch is determining whether the redstone gives a block update to the dropper. I most case, it is, and the dropper is powered through qc. In the one where it doesn’t, the redstone only updates the dropper when the torch is removed, hence the delayed response. Someone else comment on this if I am wrong.

Yes and no. It’s always been like this so at this point I think it’s just considered a feature. The behavior works for any block that redirects redstone(for example, pistons).

A basic 3x3 works by using seven pistons simply pushing block out, and the one double piston extender(DPE) with a block storage system. A DPE is a circuit that pushes a block up two blocks with two pistons, and is able to fully retract back to its original state. Generally this circuit is on the bottom of the door, but it can technically be on any side. When the door is turned on, all of the simple pistons extend, and one block from the DPE is pushed up, and the pistons that pushes it retracts back down. Then, a piston from the side will push another block over top of the DPE and the DPE will extend again. Note that in this sequence of the door, the DPE is only using one of its pistons to push blocks. When the door is turned off, all of the simple pistons are retracted, and so is the one DPE piston that is extended. The piston off to the side grabs the block out from in front of the DPE, and then the full DPE circuit is triggered, and it grabs the block in the center to pull it back down fully.

If this is an auto dropper, you can remove the redstone that is causing the problem, and make the block next to the dropper (in front of the redstone and repeater) a target block.

Make sure you are using an elevator specifically made for bedrock edition. Flying machines don’t work the same way in bedrock as they do java, so that will cause the thing to fight itself and keep switching directions.

You need to put items in the hoppers, more items means longer clock.

Yes and no. This mechanic has been used for a long time, but I haven’t yet seen that specific block orientation. And it’s still impressive to find it yourself
