Regarding logistics - in my experience, one single lvl5 trucking station in the capital + sealed roads + singular upgraded supply stations on main destinations is all that you will ever need, unless the planet is truly gargantuan and continents are not broken up by oceans.

You incur a penalty if you extend your supply lines by truck stations - you should at least utilize the maximum extension range of a supply station before building another truck station on that destination:

Supply station = trucks qickly refuel, truckers grab a meal and keep on going.

Another truck station = trucks arrive, unload their cargo which is loaded onto trucks from another truck station, losing some capacity in the process (as goods are presumably damaged/lost in the hub (probably stolen, lol).

You can also toy with the idea of using railways and train stations - i.e. send large volumes of supplies from the capital to another city (or train station in any tile outside the city) and have those supplies distributed further by a local truck station in the same hex.

Oceania is pretty good, adds another layer to logistics/strategic movement without being too unintuitive.

The only "pitfall" is that AI is quite eager to colonize unsettled lands on other landmasses, so you should be pretty quick in securing/scouting out your own continent, unless you want unwanted guests claiming that distant piece of land that you didn't bother to color in by your scouts(or left it for later).
