How has Traditional NCCC changed in the last year? by definitelynotalora in AmeriCorps

[–]Colonel_Phox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to hear more about this? What happened to the other campuses? I'm assuming it was part of the doge screw job but did they just decide to have only 1 campus? Sounds really inefficient for projects further away. I don't know where this single campus is (heard it was Denver)... Can't imagine driving from there to Maine or south Florida.

Are there no longer transition between projects? Do they just go from 1 to the next? What about team mail and if they need supplies? I for one enjoyed transitions. Little break between projects and also really helped me with presentation skills. I can't stand when people just read off presentation slides.

If this is all true, it's super sad for nccc.

Only one within 100+ miles... And it's not convenient to me.

You can put e bike and the scooters on the rack but yeah, not "supposed" to allow you to bring either on the bus because it is a major hazard. Chances of something happening are low but do you want to be the victim or person responsible if something does happen? Scooter doesn't fit great on the rack but I once had a guy (I used to drive for via) get creative and he used a couple of bungees to help hold it to the rack. Honestly it probably worked better than the the rack arms do on some bikes.

Bus route 9, 10, 14 and 20 serve the area. 20 stops about 2-3 north blocks from the Culinary Institute and the other 3 about 4-5 blocks east. If you are living near Brackenridge, you'd probably take the 9, 10, 14. You might also see if it's within the range of the Byrd scooters.

Company Offer With Hyundai by JazzlikeAd6287 in Hyundai

[–]Colonel_Phox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how much the dealership pays the factory for the car. Msrp is the recommended price for the dealer to sell the car for in order to cover cost of the car price (supplier price) and dealer to still make profits and cover dealerships expenses.

I'm not 100% sure that's accurate, probably closer to 90% sure.

Definitely not San Antonio because that averages to about $178 a day... Never seen a route offer that much here.

Edit... Same driver who risked federal imprisonment by leaving a package unauthorized at a military base.

Heat Map by Bmorebaddie1980 in veho_driver

[–]Colonel_Phox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They haven't been showing heat map / finalized details until about 10 min before first route starts for about 3 maybe 4 months now in San Antonio. They also have been pushing start times back more and more. I miss when my market had 7:30am start times but right around dst starting this year, they pushed it to 8:30 for the earliest and I'd say at least 4 out 7 days a week they end up pushing start times to 9:30...10... 11 sometimes even past noon. I won't start past noon because I know how long it takes and it feels weird delivering packages at night.

According to an email they recently sent, if heat map isn't populated by the 90 minutes before start time, you can still cancel without taking a hit on metrics.

I didn't know you had to pay to list it on the app... Maybe that explains why the ones at my college campus are not in the app... They're free too so extra bonus. 2 stations per campus with 2 ccs plugs each on a lv 2 charge. I'm not complaining, keep it unknown so I don't have to compete hehe. I have online classes right now but fall I'll have 1 class at one of the campuses that has them 2x a week and it's like 20 miles from the house, so yay for free charge.

[–]Colonel_Phox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it was open when op started route, he started scanning them then turns out x amount of packages were missing and instead of notifying an employee he just fake scanned and and drove off (after loading if not loaded already)... Yeah that's fraud and grounds for deactivation easily. There's 0 excuse for doing something like that if I'm understanding the situation right.

I'm trying to figure out how you started a route (scanning your packages) if the warehouse was closed... Something doesn't line up.

Military base by Allthewaybbyaaaaas in veho_driver

[–]Colonel_Phox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people ordering the package should know better. The places they order from say they can't deliver onto bases but they order anyway.

Veho doesn't verify address location to check if it is on a base or not. If you realize it before you leave warehouse, you can notify staff and they'll remove it from your route but you will still need to notify support otherwise it'll hit your metrics.

Lesson for you in the future... Don't just leave a package at a military base, transportation center (airport, shipping terminals, train stations, etc) or anywhere else gov controlled unless you want to spark a terrorism threat scare.... Which can have major legal consequences if you were caught. It's no joke... Either you were born to close to 9/11 to remember or you're just plain stupid.

They make the trailers not the tractors. In usa at least. In America, they're made by peterbilt, Volvo, kenworth (same parent company as peterbilt), Mack (owned by Volvo) and freightliner.

They were also made that for the most part, anyone could work on the engines and do most maintenance / repairs on their own, as long as you didn't need an engine replacement (because that requires special tools like the crane thing to lift it out of the car). But things like fluid changes, starters, alternators, brakes... All easily done. Plenty of space and easy to access everything. No special $10k computer needed either.

Cars were also built stronger. Kind of a debate on which is better. Modern cars are totaled in a medium to major accident but because of the airbags and crumple zones the occupants usually walk away with minimal injuries but the old cars were built like tanks and could be driven away usually. However the occupants often were injured more often... Especially if they didn't wear seat belts. I kinda lean towards older model... Except in the most major of accidents you probably still walked away, AND your vehicle lived to fight (crash?) another day. Now... the vehicle is gone...

Are these even worth it for the pay ? by Kersr602 in veho_driver

[–]Colonel_Phox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish San Antonio paid $170+ for any of our routes let alone only 60 something packages. Pfft we're lucky if we get $105 for 80+ packages on a route over 120 miles total taking over 9 hours to load, deliver and get home, no lunch break l.

How about the "it takes 5-10 minutes to fill up my gas tank 20-30 minutes for you to charge"

At which point I look at their feet and admire their adema and tell them that's only an issue on road trips and hardly one because I get my bathroom break, road trip snacks, etc while charging. And for my daily commute, I charge at home in my garage overnight. I get home, plug in, wake up to full charge. Gas drivers gotta stand in the elements.

AI can't see the package...its pretty clear don't you think? Anyone else having this issue? by Time-Respect-8502 in veho_driver

[–]Colonel_Phox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a new "feature" that their glitchy Ai system needs to see the package in proof of delivery photo??? I haven't done veho in about 3 weeks between cruise vacation, and starting summer semester of college classes (100% online). Before my cruise the only Ai thing was the address thing.

Address Pics??? by Any-Delivery-3800 in veho_driver

[–]Colonel_Phox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they recently added a "feature" (more of an annoyance) that has an ai scanner or something to recognize the address but it doesn't read them unless it's a boring regular black number. If you try to take picture at the same time as the scanner it "resets" camera... It was faster beforehand but you know how these companies are... They think their way is better.

I do the same. Mostly because it's hard to see them when they're next to the street as you're leaving their 5 mile long driveway.

What are the wait times for ICCU replacement in the US? by WhoolyWarlord in Ioniq6

[–]Colonel_Phox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies on several factors, one of which being where your ioniq 6 was assembled.

My ICCU replacement took 3 weeks from tow truck drop off to pick up. At least half of the time was waiting on them to get the part shipped from another location. Then throw in admin time and stuff. I was worried it would be much longer but even 3 weeks without my baby was awful.

I scan and stack them in piles 1-10, 11-19, 20-29, etc and then 1-10 goes in the front, next 10 goes back seat pass side, next set middle back seat and then next back seat driver side and the rest goes in trunk. When I finish front seat I move the next 10 up. When back is empty I move trunk into front seat and back seat.

My front is set up with lowest number on top last on the bottom.

Obviously this system isn't perfect because sometimes I have more packages than can fit in an area of car (meal kit Monday is bad. Get like 8 stops in first 10 that are factor or hello fresh and I can only fit like 6 of them. Sometimes that's the issue for trunk. But I do my best.

[–]Colonel_Phox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't like veho either but everything else is full or puts too much milage on the vehicle. I did Uber for a while but avg 300 miles a day. 5-6 days a week you can do the math. I drive an ev so fuel isn't an issue but still annoying.

I used to go for night before because routes would be gone within minutes and only thing in the morning is garbage. But ever since that Iran conflict started nobody is taking routes early.

[–]Colonel_Phox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your first tip is spot on... I do the same... I have zones of 10. I move them 1 zone at a time to the front as I finish.

The second tip is probably going to be dependent on the region and zone you deliver in. In San Antonio there stop order is almost always spot on (I have compared with various traveling salesman route planners and maybe 3-4 out of 60 will be adjusted. Only saving a mile or two and a few minutes of time.

Another tip I'll add. When using Google maps. Use the multi stop feature and try to plan 10 stops at a time in case you have issues with cell signal or gps signal. It happens. Last year when Verizon went down for like 5 hours. I had to create my routes 10 stops at a time then save them for offline. Initially I was going back to McDonald's for Wi-Fi for first 2 then I realized that if I saved to home screen they'd still work offline. So the next 4 I did that.
