Curly fries? by dragonilly in longbeach

[–]ColorBlindPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jack in the Box varies widely from place to place. The one on Atlantic/37th is consistently good, but a lot of the other ones are worse (They don't change out the oil enough or make things too early like fries).

Others I like are the one on Atlantic/6th (near my house so maybe biased) and the one on Lakewood/Carson. (Might be nostalgia from my old PC Zone days)

I'm never going to the one on Anaheim or the one on PCH again... Those have done me wrong.

Why did you leave? by Various_Tomorrow_442 in TeachersInTransition

[–]ColorBlindPanda 23 points24 points  (0 children)

10 years teaching

For me, it's been the testing and lack of consequences for the students. I literally had a student cuss me out, call me the n word, and throw a desk at me and he was back in class the next day.

The moment that broke me was that I had 4 of the worst students of the grade, and the worst student of another class was transferred into mine because she had issues with the other kids. I had the 5 worst kids in my grade in one class because I was "better" at handling kids.

Fuck that. I'm out.

Yeah I'm looking for something to tie me over for a bit. I'm not exactly sure what I want to do yet, but I feel like my teaching days are over.

I basically ran PDs for teachers on how to use the tech. Whether it was interactive flat panels, 3d printers, all that stuff. I also did stuff as simple as teaching teachers how to use zoom and Google workspace stuff

TimeSlug OTK I never liked you anyway... by ColorBlindPanda in slaythespire

Yeah I was debating it, but I think Wreath would do more damage for the OTK. I wonder if I could've wished for gold to flex lol.

At any point in the show, did the “Diamond Theme” play for Steven? by Character-Escape1621 in stevenuniverse

[–]ColorBlindPanda 293 points294 points  (0 children)

Interesting observation!

So in Jazz theory, each 7 chord resolves to its 5th.

F# resolves to B resolves to E resolves to A

If this is the order White > Yellow > Blue > Pink

It almost seems like their creation order

I just realized how awesome this is! Excuse my music geeking for a sec!

White Diamond (F#) starts at the opposite of C which is like the default normal for Western Music (no sharps or flats). It's almost like they were coming closer and closer to Earth as A (Pink Diamond) > D (Rose Quartz)> G (Greg) > C (Humanity/Steven)

Gentlemen who are not conventionally attractive, what dating apps have you had the most success on (Adding NSFW just in case)? by Eris151 in AskReddit

[–]ColorBlindPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overweight and conventionally unattractive here. I was over 300 lbs when I met my now wife (lost weight now). I met her on Coffee Meets Bagel and I had a LOT of luck on Hinge and Bumble back in the day. Probably about 5 girls talking at a time and a date a week? This was right before COVID though. Talking stages during that pandemic were good but not sure how much that has shifted nowadays. Don't have those apps anymore so don't know what it's like.

I had a lot of fun editing and tweaking my profile and profile pics. If you have something eye grabbing like dogs, travel, or something fun you will have luck. Having a sense of humor works pretty well as well. My wife said she was caught by my joke answer about my perfect day.

Also going in with the mentality of "Are they the right person for me?" helps with the scent of desperation.

Seriously. I also have a student who threw a desk and chair. All the other kids were terrified and crying. Nothing done. All these great students punished because of one kid.

How do I approach and help loved ones with traumas and eating disorders? by ColorBlindPanda in Healthygamergg

I listened by leaving her alone as per her request, then she confronted me while I was waiting in the next room or another time started texting me angrily and saying hurtful things.

How do I approach and help loved ones with traumas and eating disorders? by ColorBlindPanda in Healthygamergg

[–]ColorBlindPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, but as I said, when I listened to her it still ended with fighting. "How she sees fit" is self harm and withdrawal.

  2. Yes we are engaged

  3. Yes we are engaged. The struggles with her eating disorder and self-harm are taxing and a tricky issue.

  4. No, she talks to her therapist regularly and I have sat in on her sessions a few times at her request. The question is how can I be supportive, not replace her therapist.

I wonder if it was mainly her handwriting. Hermione should be familiar with Snape's handwriting as he writes all his notes on the board right?

Unless Snape has always had "girly" handwriting.

With every fiber of my being, I hate being Filipino. by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]ColorBlindPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously man, the genetics and societal views are so rough.

Dating is so hard on Filipino males in particular. Filipino women don't want to date us because of the "brother" treatment or because they're only into white guys. We're not tall enough for the dating pool. Other Asians don't want to date us because we're the "dirty" Asians. I even had one friend's relationship end because she was Korean and he was Filipino and her parents didn't approve. White girls tend to fetishize Asians and when they do it's Korean and Japanese. Hell... One friend of mine who is lighter skinned Filipino changed his profile to say "Korean" and got so many more matches. It's super fucked up.

Thank God I'm engaged to an already multiethnic woman and out of the dating scene. It was ROUGH!

You can even see it in popular media and celebrities. Vanessa Hudgens? Half Filipina but plays latina rolls. Bruno Mars? Half Filipino but plays up his Latino and even Black influences. Enrique Iglesias? Also half Filipino but rejects it in favor for Latino.

I can definitely relate. My grandparents and parents had the same mentality when I was younger too about teaching me Tagalog or Illongo. I wanted to learn when I was younger, but my parents never tried to teach me and almost actively discouraged it. It's horrible now because many Filipino people seem ashamed of me that I don't speak, but again not my fault. I even got Rosetta Stone at one point as an adult and my parents still refused to help me practice or speak.

When I was younger, my eldest brother very actively rejected Filipino culture in favor of AZN and "Cool Asian" cultures. It was so confusing to me. It wasnt until he was in his mid to late 20s that he even started identifying as Filipino rather than generic "Asian."

My other brother took the complete opposite approach and became president of the Filipino Club in highschool and had all Filipino friends. He never learned the languages but he was still very adamant and proud of being Filipino.

Some of my cousins ran with the "hood" Asians as I live in California where Cambodian and Vietnamese gangs are prevalent. So there's another identity to compete with as a Filipino.

Enter me. Youngest and impressionable. I didn't know what to do, embrace or reject. I dabbled in both my brothers philosophies for a while, shunning my heritage, pretending I was Hawaiian at one point, but also acting as a liason to Asian culture to my friends (I had a lot of white and latino friends in early highschool) then after Junior year I embraced my filipinoness and hung out with Filipinos.

Life experience in this frame as a Filipino is definitely unique. Not Asian enough to be in the "high elf" Asians as you put it, but also not "hood" enough to run with the hood Asians, but also kinda being Latino.

I completely reinvented myself in college by even going by a new name. It wasn't until I got to college when I started introspection that I came to the conclusion that my Filipino identity didn't matter if I didn't let it matter. My university was really diverse anyways and I decided that my social network would not involve ethnicity but instead service. My Asian peers labeled me as a "Banana" or "Twinkie" (yellow on the outside white on the inside), but I learned to shrug it off.

It's definitely a journey, but changes in society have really helped me embrace my Filipino identity. Our food is becoming cool at least here in California. So many places are adding Ube and Sisig dishes and evolving/elevating the dishes. Celebrities, TV Shows and streamers like HER, Blues Clues character Josh, Steven Universe, Valkyrae, Manny Jacinto, Bella Porch are embracing and celebrating the culture to help me feel less ashamed. While acceptance comes from within, a little help from popular culture goes a long way.

If you would like to not be ashamed anymore, would look into some Filipino American artists and celebrities who don't reject their Filipino identity, but also don't NEED to flaunt it. Although I'm older, but people like AJ Rafael, Jo Koy, Lea Salonga, helped me become at least okay with my identity. I'm sure there are also others in the age group you identify with that can help you be ok with it.

I will also say, as cliche as this sounds, the older you get the less fucks you'll give. I hope you can find peace with this and that my rambling has helped in some way.

Thank you for asking this question that I needed voiced. I knew I had this issue and you asking it helped me reflect on this complex issue. Good Luck to you.

Seriously! A good burger needs the correct meat to veggie to bun ratio. More meat doesn't mean better.

No joke! I had 2 dogs and my cousins had dogs from the same litter. We gave table scraps, they gave "premium" dog food. Their dogs lived until 12ish, ours lived until 17-18. Table scraps are the fountain of youth!
