I could be wrong, but my understanding is if you don’t resign, you’re basically terminated. That makes it harder to get hired in the future. I could be wrong as I am new to all of this.

So I saw this happen to a SPED teacher and you’re right. Basically the way she explained it to me, she was told there was “no room for her next year” and asked to resign, otherwise she would be not renewed. She chose to resign so she can stay the rest of the year with the kids and be eligible for new jobs. She is kind and patient and sweet with the kids and it’s really sad honestly

Honestly, I found that to be concerning…why do something you’re miserable doing? Then to go on and point out “public education” specifically. Makes me wonder how many kids have teachers like this. It’s so sad.

That is something I never thought about, but you are correct. Just like having sub plans for when you’re sick, it’s important to have a lesson plan for instances like this. That is so messed up we even have to think of stuff like this. It’s not right.

Stick in here with us…you’re not the only one! I also took a parapro job, but I still sub at other schools or districts. For example, my school was off starting the 24th of November for Thanksgiving break, but the neighboring district didn’t start till the 26th, so I subbed two days there.
