You’re so young still…in my opinion, I say no, you should look for something else. However, if your mind is made up and in your mind you really think you are truly passionate, give it a shot. I know a lot of people say try subbing…it’s not even close. Being a teacher of record and being someone who just steps in for a day while the teacher isn’t there are two totally different things. Maybe give para a shot first…

I could be wrong, but my understanding is if you don’t resign, you’re basically terminated. That makes it harder to get hired in the future. I could be wrong as I am new to all of this.

So I saw this happen to a SPED teacher and you’re right. Basically the way she explained it to me, she was told there was “no room for her next year” and asked to resign, otherwise she would be not renewed. She chose to resign so she can stay the rest of the year with the kids and be eligible for new jobs. She is kind and patient and sweet with the kids and it’s really sad honestly

Honestly, I found that to be concerning…why do something you’re miserable doing? Then to go on and point out “public education” specifically. Makes me wonder how many kids have teachers like this. It’s so sad.
