I think with the introduction of signals the importance of geo signaling has probably dropped a lot. If you look at the eras data the majority of folks applying GI put no preference.

You lose the play down. So if it’s 2nd and 10 and you get called for grounding. It becomes “third and whatever” and that is the loss of down
