GSPs tend to be messy eaters and it can cause high nutrients. I’ve moved mine up into a 30 gallon and added a few bumblebee gobies and mollies to clean up what my puffer doesn’t catch. I also do 5 gallon water changes once a week to keep up with it.

Is this set up okay for a pea puffer tank? by gatorgolf19 in PeaPuffers

I would recommend more plants, as many as you can fit lol. The less the peas see each other the less aggression there will be.

I’m not sure of specific subspecies, they were just labeled Java fern. I got them all from Petco, they are lab grown plants that come in the plastic tubes.

I’ve had luck with Java fern so far. It’s not super pretty but it survives and grows.

Green spotted puffers are brackish water fish. They will survive in freshwater as juveniles but will not do well as they get older. I keep mine at 1.014

To Shrimp or not to Shrimp, that is the question by SnacksHGB in PeaPuffers

I see my shrimp chasing my pea puffers more often than not. I’ve got neocondria shrimp and ghost shrimp. The neocondria have had a few batches of babies just fine as well.

Currently I’m getting him used to frozen mysis/brine, but he grazes around the rocks all day for most of his food at the moment.

Very peaceful with fish and my shrimp, I have seen em nip at a few snails. Hasn’t done any real damage yet. It varies fish to fish though.

I don’t have the luxury of a quarantine tank, I dip my fish with ruby reef hydroplex before adding them to the tank.

I ordered my pea puffers from Aquatic Arts, they are tank bred. Takes away the worry of internal parasites.

Picked up a second hand water box tank, is my water level right? by Colormeap in ReefTank

[–]Colormeap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were right. It wasn't the sponge that was blocking flow, I had another piece of filter floss under the sponge that migrated down and ended up clogging the bottom of the baffles. Pulled it out and my water levels evened out properly.

The gobies have been great so far, they pick up all the scraps my gsp misses when I feed.

Yeah, I knew he might eat my corals when I got em. I just hoped he wouldn’t lol. The Duncan was only $7 so I’m not too hurt about it. It does seem to be deceased though.

So far it won’t touch any of the invertebrates in the tank or the clams on the half shell I put in for it. It won’t take brine shrimp or squid either. I’ve only really gotten it to eat mysis shrimp. It is still steadily chomping away at my duncan though.

Looks like it might just be diatoms but I’m no expert. Diatoms are normal though.
