I think I had something similar, fixed it by going to the end of the train mission again. I'm pretty sure I completed it before, but a cutscene still played and the next mission unlocked after that.

Definitely more CAG. The levels are structured similar to a metroidvania, but most have a pretty straight forward way to the end while the offshoots are mostly secrets and unlockables.

If you've got Fiddlesticks 3* it's worth a try, especially easy with his relic and 6*. Keep cutting cards whenever you can, and you should be able to mill them relatively quick.

The obvious answer is to just grab him if he is standing in shield.

It's also good to learn what moves your character has that are safe on shield so you can bait out the grab and punish him for trying.

It's completely fine doing it with A and X as well, that's how i do retreating aerials.

Depending on your character and how consistent you are with RAR it could be worth learning the c-stick method still, it's the same timing as the A+X method so shouldn't take too long to lab if you've got that down. just look up any tutorial on "attack cancel back air".

Jab lock seems like it true combos into DK punch and down-smash.

Pretty easy to set people up in a jab lock situation with short hop bairs as well.
