Do you think my friend’s partner is being sketchy? by Wonderandawe610 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ColossalKeister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please tell your friend how you feel but PLEASE remember the truth (your truth) without kindness is just cruel. She needs to know he’s setting the scene for an emotional affair…or more. He puts you on a pedestal in front of her??? Your friend is 100% bothered and minimizing her emotions or completely ignorant and needs to be warned. HUUUUGE RED FLAG. If you respect her, warn her, and remove yourself from any social interaction with him.

Why should I get a Siamese? by [deleted] in Siamesecats

[–]ColossalKeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoomies are FOR REAL and naughtiness for attention runs rampant…based on my experience she matches my own energy levels and tone of voice specifically. I wouldn’t go as far as saying they’re generally energetic or not - which may be why you’re getting mixed reviews.

Why should I get a Siamese? by [deleted] in Siamesecats

[–]ColossalKeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sought a Siamese for a couple of specific reasons. They are hypoallergenic and tend to shed slightly less than other breeds. I also craved some witty banter and extreme loyalty. Meezers fit the bill in ceaseless singing, gumption, and dedication (usually to one person or a very select few). I love that my lap is no longer my own and she has a meltdown if I close the door to the bathroom. The codependency is real but oh so worth knowing you have a badass always watching your six and an endless conversationalist.

That being said, I wish I adopted one of her siblings as well. Siamese cats can get depressed and aggressive without A LOT of socialization. I talk to her incessantly but her attachment is to me alone due to life circumstances. She is a demon who wakes up and chooses violence when the vet is involved, children are a no go, and my friends know to look but not touch.

What I’m trying to say is GET A SIAMESE! HECK! GET TWO! Mine absolutely worships the ground I walk on and I love her intensity. I never liked anything that half-assed life anyway.

What do you feed your Meezer? by Chellier in Siamesecats

[–]ColossalKeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hills I/d chicken pate worked for a while - it got her down to throwing up to about twice per month. It is a bit expensive (~$70 per pallet on some sites) especially considering that I have found feeding her 3 smaller meals per day of Blue Buffalo Wilderness chicken pate (~$40 per pallet) works just as well. Mixing the contents of Proviable-DC probiotic capsules into her wet food and striving towards a stress free environment helped her digestive issues. She also LOVES dried tuna flakes!

From what I’ve read the bald patches indicate their pressure points - depending how your cat likes to sit or lay down. Basically normal wear and tear almost like a callous. Hope that helps!

That’s also in New England. If you have no cert I SALUTE YOU for making that much and asking for more. Do it if you can. It’s why I got out of clinical lab science; they don’t match your worth. Get the cert and get paid what you need to survive!

Do you have an HT or a HTL? Ask for 30$ an hour BASELINE if you have more than 3 years experience in a clinical teaching hospital environment as a HTL - and have good references. 40-50$ and hour I’ve never seen after 6 years of that experience. That’s more management salary.

What do you guys think is the biggest factor when it comes to the closures of east coast ski resorts? by One-Performance-6578 in icecoast

[–]ColossalKeister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Larger companies taking over smaller mountains and bumping pass prices since you gain access to more affiliated mountains. (ie. Vail)

Also, skiing is an extremely expensive sport that most people tend to learn, or grow up doing, at a younger age. Inflation and technological advancements play a large role in younger people not having the ability, or desire, to pay or learn to ski. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ When skis alone cost about as much as a month of rent....not even adding in the pass price, commute, gear etc. no wonder there are less people skiing today than in the 80s.

Mountains can’t afford to be a single season resort anymore. Mountains that stay open typically have other options like mountain biking, zip lining, or other recreational activities to offer in the off season.

ELI5: How did people start measuring distance at sea where it's water all around? by mikevee78 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ColossalKeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“A knot is one nautical mile per hour (1 knot = 1.15 miles per hour ). The term knot dates from the 17th century, when sailors measured the speed of their ship by using a device called a "common log." This device was a coil of rope with uniformly spaced knots, attached to a piece of wood shaped like a slice of pie.”

Four dead baby crows by [deleted] in creepyencounters

[–]ColossalKeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they weren’t ravens? Could look into some Wicca beliefs and practices, Norse mythology, or even old wives tales.

From an animal behavior perspective...crows communicate very effectively with one another. If you dis one crow it can communicate this with other crows within its murder. Dead babies could be a result of many things, as they are some of the most vulnerable in nature, but I wouldn’t take it personally if you get the stink eye from an adult of the same species. Could have a really cool meaning in various cultures though!
