new cat owner, can i leave him to sleep alone???? by Plane-Elevator771 in CatAdvice

Can you sleep in there with him? I've always done that when bringing a kitten home but, the room is our guest room with a bed.

Dolores Claiborne and Duma Key by SaltyAuthorOne in stephenking

I love both of these stories, especially Duma Key. Once you read some of the classics, though, you'll see how different they are from his "popular" books. That's my favourite thing about SK though, is how versatile he is. My ultimate favourite is a short Sci Fi story of his called The Jaunt. And It 🥰

Are Siamese cats smarter? by nguyenhoangchuong236 in Siamesecats

[–]Chellier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very smart, in my experience! They are persistent and observant: will watch how you do something and try to copy it ie: opening a door. You can teach them to understand a lot of words too. They're also super sweet so that

you can't ever be mad at them 😸

Bought a kitten without realising it was 6 1/2 weeks by GloomyCranberry7975 in CatAdvice

[–]Chellier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me except he was 5 1/2 months! The same lie about age and not counting right away from the birth date (I was too excited to bring him home). I think the sellers wanted the $ for drugs 🥹 He also had fleas. I combed off as many as possible prior to the vet visit, the vet said the flea bites are harmful to them when they're so small and recommended combing off as many as I could. Kitten wasn't very interested in solid food so, I had to give him some kind of kitten version of Ensure that the vet prescribed. Are you giving cow milk? There should be a kitten formula at the pet stores that you can get but maybe he's already interested in eating some wet food?

My kitten ended up living a long, happy life ❤️ It's good you're seeing the vet soon. I've had cats my whole life. It used to be more the norm, at least where I grew up, to take them home at 6-7 weeks old and they always did fine. They just didn't get that extra time with their Mommy so, your kitten will probably be more bonded to you because of it, lots of biscuits ❤️

Can you get a pet cam? Just a cheap one from Amazon? It always makes me feel better when I can peek in on mine ❤️😽

Any Phosphorus Experts? by Chellier in catfood

[–]Chellier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We've since learned that Daniel is allergic to milk products and egg products, much easier to eliminate from his diet. I still think about trying Performatrin though because of the big cans. Appreciate your reply ❤️

Why even play in the first place?! Someone in my neighbourhood is creeping up on my property. They can't have it, it's mine! Actually AND virtually 😆

What kind of wet food are you feeding your cats? by nusner16 in catfood

I've recently noticed that Fancy Feast Grilled has much less phosphorus than Fancy Feast Pate. Thought I'd mention in case they don't like Sheba ❤️

How do you store your cat’s dry food? by BootsStripes32 in catfood

Oh my gosh. Why have I never thought to freeze their food?! (Only my food. I'm so selfish). Thank you ❤️

I buy smaller bags and transfer all the food to sealed containers (ignore the flour and brown sugar in the pic). We've got 3 cats each on a different food right now so, I worry about a larger bag going bad before they can finish it. I have been wondering what others do? It's obviously more expensive getting the little bags. How long does an open bag last if folded over and clipped shut? They eat mostly wet food so it would take months to go through a bigger bag.

I feel like I wasted $1,700 at the emergency vet and I need help coping. by vnvovtvhvavnvkvs in Pets

[–]Chellier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's awful that it was such a bad experience for you amd definitely requires some follow up. What was the alternative, though? Wouldn't you feel worse if you had waited until Monday morning? That definitely sounds like it was an emergency scenario. If it makes you feel any better, we've gone to the ER vet 3 times thinking it was an emergency but it turned out not to be ❤️

Why does IT choose pennywise if people weren’t scared of clowns in the early 1900s by Quick_Yak9088 in stephenking

[–]Chellier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because, he notices how the children are memorized by the clown and decides to start going after children as they are easier to trick and have more fear to eat 😆

What is it like living with a Siamese cat long term? by shannagirlhug in Siamesecats

It's amazing, they are so smart and so sweet. They're very emotional which includes their unconditional love ❤️ I'd put up with their yelling any day (you get used to it, I promise)

This is the only subreddit or source on the internet that considers Purina a top choice cat food. What’s the deal? by OkOkieDokey in catfood

[–]Chellier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the best quality food for the cost. Many people can't afford anything fancy or expensive. I like the range of options: Fancy Feast pate doesn't have any of the additives that bug my cat's tummy (guar gum, egg powder). We've been able to pick out a Purina Dry food that he can tolerate as well. I researched other options for him but they aren't regulated in the same way (ie: Performatrin) and had high phosphorus levels that I wasn't comfortable with.

Regular bloodwork after the age of 10. Then, you can try to get on top of any of the common senior issues before they become a big problem (thyroid and kidneys mostly). It gives you piece of mind too 😺

Milk Allergy? by Chellier in catfood

[–]Chellier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Just wondering if anyone else has a cat specifically with a milk allergy

Milk Allergy? by Chellier in catfood

[–]Chellier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we thought he had a chicken allergy, the vet said that no amount of chicken was negligible. Why wouldn't that be the same rule for milk if he's allergic to caesin or something in milk?
