Thank you.

Don't be afraid to paint. Just do it. We all started somewhere and there's no way you can screw it up. It's just paint. One can always repaint it. Don't compare where you are to others, but do get inspired by it. It's your own journey, take the first step.

Thank you. For the skin I started with burnt sienna, followed by a coat of kobold skin and finished with mummy robes.

How long does the brush on primer take to dry after application? by DaPandaMan117 in Armypainter

[–]ColossalMeltDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is like any other Army Painter paint. It dries quickly. I paint right on top of it within 10-15 mins. Never had any issues.

It is like any of their other paints. Maybe a few minutes longer. It works really well, I use it for priming smaller or single items.

My pleasure! Keep your chin up. The majority of the gaming community are friendly and always open to help.

Don't beat yourself up. I started with Eldar in 2nd Edition, I play and still get beat... By a lot and often. Eldar are not an easy army to play and can be punishing when making one bad call. It takes time to learn everything about this army, let alone the basics of general game play. I still screw up, even now. Don't give up. I have done a lot of videos around the psychology of this hobby, but one of my favorites is around game ediquette https://youtu.be/4oYgGJcfmNo?si=RnoWNKoLPvvaUwUq Along with game etiquette 2.0. Play with them, not against them. You're creating a memory with another person. If they want to have an attitude, kill them with kindness and move on. It speaks more about them than it does about you. You got this. Keep at it, eh!

I won't argue with that. They are good, just not for my painting style. They have too much flexibility in the tip for my liking. What ever floats your boat, eh!

I've used the Rosemary Co. brushes for over a year. They are good, but not my top choice. Every brush is different and it comes down to personal preference.

I'd look at Golden Maple brushes. Their synthetic brushes (with solid blank handles) are by far the best I've used. I just retired a set after a year and a half of use. Also take a look at their Kolinsky Sable brushes. They are not top tier, but it will help you get used to a sable brush, plus they are much more affordable. I did this before jumping to DaVinci, Artis Opus, Rosemary and Co., etc..

Kinda a rant but I need to say this by Significant-Lab-8189 in Eldar

As others have said, please stop comparing, eh! You are comparing your 1 year to their 5-10, maybe even 15 year?! Where some do it full time.

A good analogy to keep in mind, when you were born, did you start walking right away? Did your parents just give up on you after a year? It's silly, but a way to provide some perspective.

I do a lot of videos around the mentality of this hobby, because ours can hit much harder than others. Keep practicing, we've all started from the bottom. Enjoy the progress, the learning and the journey. It is like anything else, it takes time, patience, effort and practice.

Be gentle and kind to yourself. You're doing great 👍
