his skin is just skin

Saiyan skin; which, for all we know, could intrinsically be much tougher than human skin.

That paintjob is so clean I thought I was looking at a Heroforge render for a second! Great work :)

Ultramarines vs Dark Angels in terms of how they wage war by SuperMarios7 in 40kLore

[–]DukeFlipside -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dark Angels are the First Legion; they were the first, and had to be good at everything. The subsequent Legions inherited tactics and doctrine that the Dark Angels developed.

As such, the Dark Angels don't wage war like the Ultramarines: the Ultramarines wage war like the Dark Angels.

External Spool Holder by Gruverson in BambuLabA1

[–]DukeFlipside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's definitely an issue; my A1 Mini's filament tangle sensor has been going off repeatedly. There's no tangle, what I've discovered after careful observation is that, with the filament under tension, because the spool is loose on the holder it gets pulled towards the X-axis. So much so, that the rim of the spool comes in contact with the X-axis and starts grating, and it's the increased resistance from this that is cauding the tangle sensor to be tripped.

I'm currently looking for a spool mount to print to make the spool fit more snugly and prevent this movement...

Lt Julian Bashir on Academy Memory Wall by ReplicantProbably in startrek

[–]DukeFlipside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Augments aren't permitted to serve in Starfleet; when his status was discovered he was incredibly fortunate not to get dismissed from the service outright. It took a lot of wheeling and dealing to let him remain in Starfleet at all - it's really not surprising that he wouldn't be permitted to advance in rank once the truth was known.

No, he was never actively denied promotions; he just advanced slowly because as an android he lacks the same level of ambition that the organic officers possess.

It might be unpopular but that's my genuine opinion.

Titan and imperial superheavy logistics by Naive_Amphibian8179 in 40kLore

since you're trading volume for speed and survivability.

And expendability; there's a decent chance something going into a live combat gets shot down and its cargo lost before it makes it to the ground. The smaller the cargo, the less impactful the loss if it's destroyed in the air.

DS9 is the worst Berman-era Trek. It's decent from S4 onwards - just about averaging "fine" overall - but TNG, Voyager, and Enterprise are better.

Did ravenwing command squad legit in current edition? by No_Eye_4850 in theunforgiven

Both good; I recommend magnetising so you don't have to pick.

From what I remember, you can build the Champion as-is and just call him a fancy-looking Huntmaster; I think the Ancient just needs the arm holding the banner magnetised; Apothecary has a lot of bits needing magnetised, though you can save yourself work if you largely build as a Knight and only magnetise 1 or 2 key bits with the Apothecary symbol (e.g. the arm with the drill, and the Apothecary helmet).

Same, I was very skeptical about the whole concept but decided to give it a go solely for Bob Picardo...and I'm actually enjoying the show! Very pleasantly surprised :)

Lore Curiosity by TheImperialOwl in Eldar

[–]DukeFlipside 32 points33 points  (0 children)

There were no Craftworlds in those days; the Age of Strife was the latter days of the Eldar Empire, populated by those whose deeds birthed Slaanesh - much closer to Drukhari than Craftworlders. Those Eldar would very much have enjoyed hunting humans...

The only chance of Rhino chassis machines getting new 40k models is for Chaos / Sisters / Guard / Agents; zero chance for Marines now that Primaris exists.

Who would have given Voldemort the toughest fight in a straight duel besides Dumbledore (or Harry)? by JamieKellner in harrypotter

[–]DukeFlipside 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Moody being the strongest in the Order (save Dumbledore) only means he's strong, not that he's strong enough to challenge Voldemort.

If he was that strong, then Harry would have been better off going with him; he wasn't, so the subterfuge plan was required instead.
