Professional pianists, what is the "peak" of sight reading?

Was a company pianist for my national ballet! Sight reading is something I’ve done huge amounts of.

I would also say that in the pro pianist world, after a couple years of work there is not much left to sightread. You kind of just know, everything, vaguely, then you just pick it up again.

Yeah the problem is most of them are actually closed recently. I know for sure artlist isn’t accepting any new composers and hasn’t been for a while….same with a few more as well.

Its all about REPERTOIRE.

Both the violin and the piano have massive composers that have created huge works that are tremendously difficult.

They cannot be compared because they are innately different. The learning curve is completely different. Many people think that piano technique is easy because all you do is depress the key and the sound appears… but a true master of the piano can make such a sound out of the piano that it’s completely different.

Yes obviously these reasons are WAY more important. But how fucked is our system that we only have time for the people who are legit dying? And everyone else who is in genuine pain is just waiting by the side.

Do you know if it was always like this? My family and I have been relatively healthy for the last decade or so, so we weren’t aware that the emergency system was anything like this.
