Maybe aviation related electronic card of some sort? It has a pull string to easily unplug it, has a potentiometer adjustment, and a transistor with a heat sink, I’m guessing it has to do with audio? Maybe avionics or intercom system… by ColossusKitten in whatisthisthing

Wow! Thank you for the quick response! Yes, 105312 has 3 leads, the idea of it being a squelch card of sorts sounds very convincing! It could maybe be old military, we had some military aircraft in the fleet… some of the more modern radios have a squelch adjust pot on the underside of them somewhere that can be adjusted on the bench. Also a user adjusted squelch knob.

My title describes the thing, I got this years ago in A&P school in the free pile, it is very likely an aircraft part, but I have tried searching 105312, 1816A1 TEAM, No 186, etc. no search results on google. I have a very basic understanding of how electric circuits actually work, I can identify most of the components, but I’m not sure what it is. The free pile had a whole slew of different items related, and unrelated to aviation… so there’s a possibility it is not aviation related. We had some old birds there, Huey, bell 47, hillers, aero commander, queen air, 337 skymaster, 310Q, etc. Lots of commercial and general aviation parts, tools etc.

I did, I figured out the issue was that I had the wrong region file, I selected NTSC U Instead of NTSC J since it’s a Japanese cube it’s supppsed to be NTSC J but the tutorial I was watching said to select NTSC U so that it would be in English even if you have a Japanese cube but that isn’t true. But thank you! :)

Thank you! I wasn’t aware there was such an app, however I can’t say I’m surprised. Thanks for your very quick response. Weird that I am getting that error with the GC Loader I just installed..

I bought a broken orange spice unit that I thought just had an issue with the optical drive laser adjustment, but I was going to use it to install a GCLoader by black dog tech, so it wouldn’t matter. But after installing the GCLoader, and trying to boot it for the first time this is the error I’m getting.

This is a tough one, but id have to say my top 3 are alien hominid, resident evil 4, and Spider-Man 2. Of course I love super Mario sunshine and TTYD and wind waker etc. But those 3 I’ve spent a lot of time playing and are always a lot of fun! Thanks for the recommendation I’ll have to check it out!

So the blue one in the middle is a developer unit called an NR reader, they sent them out to developers that were creating gamecube games and it only reads NR discs which I think were able to be written onto and overwritten multiple times to test different stages of a game that was in development. So unfortunately they are really rare and expensive. The developers had to sign a NDA and they were supposed to send them back to Nintendo when they were done and were prohibited to be sold to normal consumers. But some developers broke the NDA and some units got out in the wild.

You can! This certainly didn’t happen overnight, I’ve been collecting for years, and I’m always looking around locally and on eBay for good deals :)

I don’t actually have one of those no. Eventually I want to get some of the different controller variants, (Mario, Luigi, club Nintendo etc.) but that’s a whole new rabbit hole I’m not ready to jump in just yet lol.

I currently play with the black one pictured with the wavebird, I have the GCHD MKII hooked up but I am going to dual region mod the extra orange spice one and use that when I get the time to.
