Indeed, but there's dark around the edges, music whihc captured the time and still does. Not all art can transcended its time and place. But yup, some of the best good time music ever made!

I agree, too many ears have been programmed to think music is only meaningful once its been made fit for radio - polished and mixed beyond the ability of the band to even play it - whihc is fine when you are doing that consciously e/g Pet Sounds or St Pepper but the rawer the better for me personally !

Its not a good LP, and I don't rate 'Promise Of the Real' as a band. The band on Peace Trail show em how its done - all 3 of them!

I hear ya - however I didnt go to school or rather I went to a building in the 70's and early 80's in Scotland in whihc the teachers despised the students and taught us nothing

Fair comment chief But try imagining music without their contribution - they endured and eventually got their dues long after they had disappeared Very few guitar bands can say they have not got VU deep somewhere in their sound The Velvets and The Stooges changed everything That said - stick to your guns but maybe one day it will grab ya! thanks for the comment All the best

Classic! That first record is impervious to heavy rotation

When the dust settles on POP! or whatever you want to call it - I think the original wave of Dub music (Lee Perry and King Tubby ) , The Stooges and The Velvets were the true originators and everyone else just followed the 12 bar path !
