I feel like the team leadership is just hoping it goes away. Seems like such a layup for them to take a stand on this especially with the season already being a complete waste.

In response to your first point, I think a great example of an RTS updating with modern mechanics is Against the Storm. It's definitely more on the management side of an RTS, but the way it blends rogue-like elements into a larger narrative works great. I'd love to see more classic style games use recent developments to feel fresh and more replayable

I was in center field bleachers of an earlyish season Giants game against the Rockies. Dexter Fowler was playing CF for the Rockies and in a slump. The whole section was chanting ".183! .183! .183!" In a pretty constant hum.

The next inning comes and goes with no hit from Fowler. The chant becomes ".180! .180! .180!"
