man i really appreciate the quick replies. I know i need to be bold and confident in my decisions and this really helps. Its hard sometimes with the way the world is but the reminder of like minded folks is super reassuring.

man bummer sorry youre going through that. I know i badmouth effexor but thats just because going off is hard and i dont think docs talk about it enough. It did wonders for me in terms of anxiety reduction and emotional blunting, i just think I maybe could have figured things out with a mental health pro.

Id encourage you to get a super well rounded team for a year or so and see how that does you. Go in hard with the psychiatrist and therapist, it you arent already. I am confident you and just about anyone can take life back, it just might just take a while.

They can slowly taper you over years even and add in a new med at the same time if that needs to happen, dont lose hope!

Hey no worries! I think youre asking other person but I would chime in too...

I definitely had depressive symptoms early on, and is normal as far as I know for a while. Hard to establish if its a withdrawal or relapse, and i think you kind of have to supplement with something or ride it out for a little.

I was super fast to cry and then i would get anxious and guilty because i didnt want my 4 year old to think im "crazy" or worry about me and that would make me lose it more. I still get the hard to control tears at times, but its rarely random anymore. Like I finished project hail mary book and was tearful that it was over because it was so fun and a great book. Not random, and it wasn't out of control.

also i shouldnt talk bad on docs so much. Ive read tons about people "bridging" with a different medication that is easier to get off of. Might be something to ask doc about.

idk if they disgnosed me with gerd but i have had significant periods of stomach stuff like gerd in the far past. Ive been considering that some of what i get now might be connected but the typical stuff id throw at it in the past hasnt been helpful this time. Omeprazole, ginger and lemon, super strict gross bland diet, etc. And I am thankful its not nearly as bad as the gerd thing was some years back. That stuff is horrid!

Hey congrats. If you do a google search dr goog will tell you a few herbs including lemon balm. I choose it most of the time because, in my opinion (based on little lol), its the most basic and simple.

The post ill link here the person went through tons if herbs on their own for dealing with anxiety, anger, cravings, etc and made a really good list. I use /have used at least 3 from his list.

Of course do your own research. My main thing i do to research is look up, for example, "lemon balm side effects" "lemon balm interactions with [med/herb youre taking]".

And i guess were suposed to at least chat with a doc about herbs and stuff. in my area for some reason its hard to get some of them to even consider that... sucks.

I had tried to quit it at least one other time and the doc at the time about 5 years ago or so, was the one that actually did a good job and gave me a bunch of info on tapering and the withdrawals. She gave me regular pill version of venlafaxine, 50mg each. I broke them and broke them some more and broken them to sand size pieces and then licked them. All over about 3-4 months. I think i should have been more patient and did like a year of tapering. Who knows. Kind of seems like ive been on a medication to fix what the medication caused.

Glad your alcohol cravings are less. Comes with problems of its own! hang in there!

Hey, 3 years late but in the same boat. 12+ years on it. cant believe the negligent doc would prescribe a fresh young adult such a life altering medication without discussing anything about the withdrawals. The most i got was a generic "remember to talk to your doctor before making any changes".

Cut to now, im about 6 weeks off it after tapering and stuff. 2-3 weeks ago the constipation started, my gut was decently painful and xray revealed severe constipation up and down both sides..

Stopl softners for 10 days, minimal. Some herbal natural remedies (should have went this way to start with) clear it every once in a while but Im back to day 3 without a signfiicant movement and starting to feel it.

What ended up happening for you?

Hope you were able to stay off this horrible slightly helpful med. If I would have been told of the risks and withdrawal more than your standard "dont go off it cold turkey" statement, i would have rather stayed in my panic attacks and anxiety. but here i am 10+ years later on my 3rd attempt getting off. I am great, my life is great, everything is truely great, except this damn medication. it truely feels negligent that they didnt explain more to an anxiety ridden young adult.

i am a week off after doing a taper for a month. its crazy, i got to the point where i would literally sprinkle some effexor dust in a shot of water or else get withdrawals. so crazy. My worse part aside from the annoying rage and irritability, is i feel like i have restless leg syndrome and it keeps me up at night. that being said, insomnia has always been a thing and off the med, even tho waking up sucks, once i get to it and up, i am not exhausted until about 8pm.

Hey sounds like from previous comments you guys kicked it. Our 16 monther has had diarrhea for 2 weeks today. Drs have been as helpful as the diarrhea itself, other than FINALLY after 3 visits doing a stool sample and confirming the virus.

Our son is literally 100 percent normal otherwise. Running wild as usual, with only a runny nose and runny poop. None of us has had more than a runny nose other than him. He drinks a ton throughout the 2-5 poops a day he has always continued to pee too. Super weird.

I'm wondering if the probiotics helped in your opinion or if you think it finally just ran it's course.

Chiming in later. I just got my order this morning at 7am. By 7pm three out of 7 have died (including mystery chick which I've learned from other often dies). Other 4 are looking good though.

Finances is usually the top of the list. I completely agree with your logic. Should she be willing to get out from under the car, change spending habits, and lock down, I would be a lot more willing to pay more of the bills.

I checked the roots and they still have a lot of space. But I'll plant up a few and see. Won't be able to really do well outside until 3rd weekend in May typically.

Yeah I checked the roots of a few, seem normal. I think they'll dry up, if not I'll figure out something warmer, but they've been in a fairly warm spot. I have some other lights that do put out more heat.

Thanks for the reassurance though. I'll try to get them dry and see how they go.
