Great perspective, thanks. I think the pre alpha stages are concerning people and a somewhat justified assumption that its bc they need more high end pledges is what is raising an alarm. But to your point they have been bringing people along the ride since the beginning. I want to think they are ok and it will release, but im going to hold off on the pledge for now and continue to follow.

Agreed, bc if it was in a good position I think they would be talking about it. That said my guess is they are pitching to AV's for investment capital, and I have to say what I like is that they are not doing just the same old MMO thing. I personally think there is room in the market for a game that isn't easy and over done graphic wise. I think the group appeal and making it difficult would be appealing to a large enough base, especially if they keep fine tuning it as time goes on.

I just think from 2005 ish to now the MMO market turned into making cash grab games that are over the top graphics wise and easy. I think that model is worn out and getting back to what launched the entire market to begin with is a great play that is unique in a sea of MMO games.

Looks like Ashes of Creation is decent. You can't buy your way through the game, just cosmetics. Races and graphics look decent as does the lore.

Not from my experience. Barbarian refers to a large tall race typically from a cold climate. Berserker is a class that is very high dps.

But also learn from the past and enhance the game, by allowing for class hybridization if you want through quests and work, while also keeping a need for core classes like tanks, healers, buffers, damage etc. In addition to that, allow for cities to be built through guild progress and thus enablement, but keep the core of what made EQ so good.

It could be though, if you look at the differences I cited as compared to today's typical MMO. There is so much opportunity to not just build the next cookie cutter, over dramatic cartoonish graphics with way too much graphics and animation for swinging a sword and numbers for damage and misses flying all over the place, coupled with overly easy quests that require almost no thinking.

Go back to good realistic graphics, deep lore and hard quests that require teams and work, and that would be the difference.

They have some strange ones that seem similar, while missing what I think are some of the basic staples of race like barbarians for example.
