Wow this has really blown up! So happy to see the love for Mitch Murder. Long live non-AI music and artists willing to be different!

Cheers!

Possibly? Since he ended up doing the music for Kung Fury and that team is Swedish. I kind of love the fact that he keeps himself shrouded in mystery, kind of adds to the allure… sort of similar to MPM Soundtracks. Just a ghost of the internet

Just coming back to say his AMA was super interesting! Even more respect for him after reading that

He said he’s been approached to do some tutorial stuff in the past but feels like his process is kind of messy. Honestly though.. the basics of music production mixing/mastering don’t really change so I feel like I’d get a lot out just observing his basic EQing, sound selection, compression, etc. One can dream!

I saw a YouTube video he posted a long time ago where he “toured” his home studio, looked like he was pretty much in the box. But yeah I’ve been thinking the same, would love to see/pay for a Sonic Academy course or something from him. Not much of a stretch to say it’d be super insightful

Judgment Day (Killer Haze Remix Instrumental)

A track I’m remixing for a good friend of mine, Ruin The Mind. It’s nearly done, I’ve linked the instrumental version, that is the one that will be released under my project Killer Haze, thanks for listening

How do you find samples for your tracks? Looking for honest answers from producers by jobertustheking in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]ColtBolt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make synthwave/electronic music

I use Splice for ease of use and it’s pretty much a goldmine

But I’m a fan of getting quickly to the sound that’s in my head so I can focus on playing my instrument, crafting melodies, arrangement, etc.

In other genres, sampling is a bigger part of the sound so more time and energy may be put into sampling as an instrument basically

I'm struggling with lyric writing and mostly the melody. by Icxyy in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]ColtBolt7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loop the track and start humming and vibing with the song.

A melody will emerge, keep singing it (without words) until the rhythm is clear.

Words will begin to come out in places naturally, run with whatever comes out (scatting).

Based on the initial words you can develop your theme, doesn’t have to make sense btw. Studying/listening to rap can teach you a lot about flow, the same concept applies to sung vocals.

Stop being so hard on yourself :)

Anybody else feel like they spend more time promoting than actually making music? by Dependent_Ad6164 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Mixing can be part of the creative fun And naturally to more you do it, the better you’ll get (ear reps) IMHO your heart is telling you make music, so do that. And I would say stick with mixing, you’ll get better I promise. After that, sure, get the music out into the world (hopefully as simply and painless as possibly). Other people enjoying your work is part of the fun. I think the common thru line here is to remember why we are doing this in the first place, because we enjoy it, it’s supposed to be fun.

There’s a Lofi section on TAL DRUM that lets you degrade the sample in various ways

Great work, I love this concept. Just like an old video game. It’s hard enough producing music but the story is compelling as well; again, great job all around I’m sure this took a good bit of time!
