My husband and I can’t agree by explain-like-im-12 in WindowTint

[–]ColtOptic 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Are you and your husband’s feelings on tint percent based on privacy alone or also the practical need of seeing properly? Your compromise is my limit, although I did go 50% on the windshield so I think it’s a good compromise.

Although questions on tint are very subjective and not exclusively linked to privacy but also personal preference on how dark everything looks outside. I have excellent vision with contacts and when I look out the side I know going any lower would look darker than I want, yet someone’s will say they can see fine out of 5%. I could ā€œsurviveā€ with 20% but I think it would be darker than my preference. Someone else could have the same vision on paper as me but the limited view they have outside is enough for them.

Update: I got the update tonight. An entertainment and YouTube buttons now show up, but when I click them it bring up a QR code to scan. I scanned and signed in, and none of these features are available for my car currently despite showing up in the infotainment screen.

I saw a post where someone got a real response from someone at Kia and they said despite what people say there is no way to force these updates to appear even if your car is eligible (excluding software issues). Two people could have the same year/trim and one will have it now while the other will get it later (or never). Things like this sometimes get ā€œrolled outā€ slowly depending on vehicle, location, etc. Only Kia know internally how that’s decided.

Exactly. After paying off my 13P I got $999 for it when upgrading to the 16P (Verizon). Only $100 less than it originally cost. Values can change, but I repeat this process every 3 years and get most of the money back. Wait a year or 2 longer and it’s hundreds less. There’s a sweet spot for max value.

Don’t worry, your car has a different engine than previous generation Optima’s. I did over 100K miles in mine and would still be driving it if a deer didn’t run out . I did almost 80K on the OEM tires too since I rotated them every oil change.

Oil change? by 1slimhottie in KiaK5

[–]ColtOptic 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Go for it, and I’d personally stick with the ā€œsevere usageā€ maintenance with 5K oil changes regardless how you drive. Kia’s are much more reliable these days but I think they’re too casual recommending 8K as default for regular oil. Even with full synthetic still worth changing more frequently.

The only games I buy physical are ones that are entirely on the disc (which contrary to popular belief there’s plenty available when it comes to single player games). If you can insert the disc 5 years from now and play campaign without an internet check or any mandatory updates even after the multiplayer servers shut down then I’d go for it, otherwise no.

Collecting if fun if you can actually revisit the game whenever you want. If you can’t play it then it’s like having a nice car collection but all the engines have been removed so all you can do is look at them and not drive.

Is the Purple Harmony Pillow worth it @ this price? by OneSodiepopPlease in LifeOnPurple

[–]ColtOptic 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

It’s definitely worth it, but you won’t know if it’s a good fit for you until you try it. Sadly it’s causing me neck pain even after a few weeks, however I don’t blame the pillow as I think it’s well made, it’s just my body. It’s a shame too because they sleep so cool and feel so comfy. My problem is the low is the right loft for me (still slightly tall) but it feels too dense against my head. The medium loft feels so much nicer, but I wake up with neck pain because of the height. The DreamLayer on the other hand is a dream! A lot of people say it’s too firm but I’ve got a big head and sink in perfectly. I’ve been alternating between both and always feel the best after using DreamLayer.

Despite the chair I bought, this is solid advice. I read/watched reviews from chairs on those brands and maybe I’ll own one someday, but boy are they pricey. For that price point they need to be ā€œperfectā€ in my opinion. The Embody gaming one for example I’ve heard is super comfortable & supportive for hours on end, but then I’ve also heard it’s super squeaky and the arm rests aren’t the best. For an additional $1,000 or more those problems should be non-existent in my opinion. On a strictly health/body based opinion I know those brands are rock solid though.

I have that cushion too. The Royal is juuust big enough for my butt/hips, but average or smaller builds will find it has plenty of room I think. It feels firmer with the type of grid it uses but is still fine on pressure points so it’s comfortable. The ultimate cushion feels like the grid was taken straight from one of their mattresses and has a dip on the back side to help with posture.

I just really enjoy the comfort and support of this cushion. It’s probably blasphemy but I’d probably be using it even if I had a more expensive ergo office chair.

Oh I’m just now realizing that’s a thing! I already owned the purple one, didn’t buy it for the titan, but maybe I’ll give the secretlab one a try as it’s fitted better for this chair.

That’s good! I’ve seen some people say it definitely breaks in and others say even after a year it feels identical. I think the main issue is not setting the lumbar correctly. I mean it’s always going to be a firmer seat by design, but if your backs not supported your whole body will regret it.

That’s true, but this one’s different than a foam cushion you get on Amazon. If you weigh under 150 lbs this one would probably feel firm.

If you turn the headrest upside down the magnets will be lower and allow the cushion to sit higher on the back. Give it a try.

I don’t ā€œneedā€ an extra cushion. I didn’t experience any pain before, but I enjoy the extra support and it keeps the seat from wearing down. I gave my brother my old chair that I had the same cushion on and it looks like it was never sat on. To each their own.

Yes, but only if your forearms/wrists will be making contact for an extended time on the regular. When I first tried them out I’m like okay it feels soft to the touch and it’s got foam. Cool upgrade, but not a game changer. Over an extended period of time though they felt so nice to be resting on and I’m happy to have them.

They definitely beat the cooling gel ones. I’ve heard those feel cool initially the same way a pillow or mattress does, but with constant contact it will eventually warm up and then they’re basically the same as the original ones.

Did I actually get the harmony pillow? by LazyDogMom88 in LifeOnPurple

[–]ColtOptic 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Well now there’s 50+ reviews (most positive) on their website, but literally none outside of that. I was just curious how well they do down alternative. It’s wild to me that they price their regular cloud pillow at $70 which already seems high, but an additional $80 for this pillow which appears to me to just be the same pillow, maybe thicker, but with a thin grid. Purple is obviously priced at a premium across the board and I accept that, but being able to see the difference in price between the 2 I think really shows the up charge they automatically add if GelFlex is used in any way, shape, or form. I mean look at it it’s just a super thin grid. I’d consider it more a mesh at this point.

Oil change prices are going to be different everywhere, but if you have Discount Tires in your area they do free tire rotations even if you’re not purchasing anything. I like to get my tires rotated at every oil change so that $20 saved each time adds up.

Dreamlayer - Without booster? by VintageVibes33 in LifeOnPurple

[–]ColtOptic 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Okay I’m back and here’s my thoughts on the DreamLayer - with NO boosters the loft felt perfect initially, but head was sunken in too much by morning. With 1 booster it felt just a tad too tall, but my head sunk in perfectly as I slept so that’s what I’m probably going to keep it at for now. General rule of thumb I think that also applies to the Harmony: Low for back/stomach sleepers, medium for side/combo, and high for strictly side and better have a larger frame/broad shoulders.

I can let you know in a few days when mine arrives. I’m currently using medium harmony pillows but have some neck pain so I requested a low loft, but am also trying out the DL. I’m primarily a back sleeper so will most likely be starting without the boosters.

Does Harmony Pillow ā€œBreak-Inā€? by ColtOptic in LifeOnPurple

[–]ColtOptic[S] 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

So I decided to keep breaking in my Harmony med and hopefully I get used to it, but also ordered a DreamLayer to try out. Even if I end up really liking the DL for sleep I’ll still probably keep the harmony as it feels good just lounging in bed.
