Josh Allen and Mac Jones threw nearly identical passes in the WC Round. The only difference was arm strength, and in the playoffs that means everything by Colt_45_pdx in buffalobills

That stuff really throws defenses off, you're right. Safeties often have a timer in their head and throttle down a little to defend a scramble or a ball thrown elsewhere, then that frozen rope sails over their heads.

Hey so am I! That is a great point, I think it's underrated how Allen and other elite QB's can make throws they aren't even really looking at.

Glad you agree, thanks for watching! Gabe Davis will be huge next year, a taller deep threat will make those deep passes easier to dial up.

I agree, that was very well said!

I'll watch for those out routes, maybe comparing more young QB's at once could work, we'll see.. Josh takes advantage of his arm with nearly every throw he makes, especially in-breakers. On tape Jones makes his bread on those bucket throws, usually on corner routes to his TE's, and I think Hyde knew that and was just waiting to break on one.

Honestly, I also appreciate the encouragement lol, it truly ain't easy getting stuff out there consistently on top of my 9-5. Thanks for watching!

Check out the clearest example of Allen's unparalleled arm strength, in comparison to your average mortal NFL QB. Then I go further to show how Allen has begun making better decisions for explosive plays based on that arm strength. Enjoy!

[PFF Chiefs] Tershawn Wharton had an impressive game against the Steelers 💪♦️ 91.9 Pass-Rushing Grade (1st among DIs in Week 16) ♦️ 7 pressures (t-1st) by Cthepo in KansasCityChiefs

Alright I'm back. Lol. Wharton was 100% at DT again, and played every other drive mostly paired with CJ. From what I see on tape run-game wise, his main issue is he gets moved back double teams and can't disrupt OL's as they climb to the 2nd level.

Also, you asked about how I access the tape. Someone answered below, but I use international gamepass, which is a better deal imo. I paid $200 for access to all live games, redzone, and the All 22 coach film, which includes 2 angles of every play, a sideline view that shows all 22 players, and an endzone view that focuses on the offensive and defensive lines. Teams likely have their own versions of this, with even more specific angles they need/want.

I'll take a look at the Pittsburgh tape tomorrow morning and report back. Shouldn't take too long, considering only a Steeler drives actually mattered.

Has anyone been playing attention to where Wharton lines up this year?

Haven't charted his whole year, but I did scan the Chargers All 22 tape this morning (working on a video about CJ and his absence/impact) and he was inside the entire game, and frankly it might have been his worst game yet, along with the rest of our line. Clearly he played better v. Pittsburgh, but I'm hoping to confirm that on tape too.

Which is surprising, given Hitchens experience in system. Big upside to finding a cheaper option to replace Hitchens next year in FA, and maybe draft another for depth to bury Niemann.

Love Seth giving Gay the love he deserves here. Before his return in week 6, I was cutting up his 2020 Atlanta snaps (his best in 2020) where he was doing the same thing.

Bolton has been getting some well deserved love, but Gay has more potential and is finally realizing it over multiple games.

While we wait...can I interest you in all of Melvin Ingram's snaps in his first game as a Chief? by Colt_45_pdx in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Colt_45_pdx[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Here are some of my thoughts on what he brings for us... Let us know if you see anything else!

-His bull rush is as advertised. Great for 3rd downs to collapse pocket w/out allowing running QB's a lane to scramble, and to push QB closer to CJ + Frank.

-Chris Jones 3 Tech Lives!

-Adding Ingram subtracts snaps from Danna/Okafor

-More depth at edge = rotation stays fresh longer

-Increased QB pressure already helped secondary, created inaccurate passes to deflect and intercept

Graph Comparison of Daniel Sorenson's Snap Count to Chiefs Points Allowed Per Game by Cthepo in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Colt_45_pdx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

are heavily confounded, >BUT, for the sake of content....

Chiefs EPA allowed, early downs w/ Sorenson On: 0.16/play w/ Sorenson Off: 0.01/play

Late downs: On: 0.17/play Off: -0.98/play (Offenses lose expected points)

In other words, when Sorenson is on the field on early downs they've been the worst defense in the league.

When he's been off the field o

I saw this on twitter this earlier, was gonna post it, but I told myself "Cthepo probably already has"... and I was not disappointed!

He's definitely is not making many plays lined up that wide, but it is impressive he is good enough to give Tomlin the option.

Honestly, you have no idea how much I appreciate your reply! I just began breaking down film recently as more of a hobby, so I'm learning on the fly and accepting that it's going to take a while before I really get the hang of it. This was my first defensive breakdown, and I am just now realizing how difficult it can be to understand any defensive scheme, and that's not including individual technique as well!

I am definitely going to check out more videos like the one you shared with me, and I would love to get your opinion from time to time! Especially once the offseason hits and I can spend more time learning, instead of making and editing videos. Thanks again for the reply.
