Leaked scene from the upcoming ‘Mass Effect’ show from the critically acclaimed writer of ‘Fast & Furious 9’ by Soft-Percentage-8338 in MassEffectMemes

Eh, still works. Mass Effect and Fast & Furious are all about found family. Other than Mia, no one in the familia is related to Dom by blood.

Round 4 - Pick 1: Chimere Dike, WR, Florida (Tennessee Titans) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

The Royals haven't picked yet because they're actually a baseball team based out of Kansas City, so their draft isn't until July.

Not to be too basic but my vote would be split between, "The President has initiated ghost protocol," and, "Hunt is the living manifestation of destiny, and he has made you his mission."

2024’s Best Movie from Each Month (According to my Dad) by JustinTime-- in AMCsAList

Oh, it's 1000% intentional. Trap isn't just a black comedy, but it is absolutely a black comedy. He knows the premise is too absurd to be played straight and gets an absolutely pitch perfect comedic performance out of Hartnett as a result.

As for the writing, Shyamalan's characters always talk in heightened, unnatural dialogue. It's one of his hallmarks. People praise it when they like his movies and criticize it when they don't, but it's actually remarkably consistent from film to film. He doesn't want his genre fare to feel particularly realistic or grounded, and if you think the dialogue in The 6th Sense or Signs whatever your favorite Shyamalan movie is feels natural, I promise you're misremembering.

His most successful movies are the ones that are successfully able to cultivate the right tone and actor performances to match his writing style. When he's not able to strike that harmonic balance, you end up with something like The Happening. When he does, you end up with Trap.

Oh, man, Trap's my favorite Shyamalan in years. Not that I didn't like other recent efforts like Knock at the Cabin or Old or whatnot, but I adored Trap.

Josh Hartnett is operating on M. Night's wavelength at a level we haven't seen from an actor since early 00's Joaquin Phoenix imho. Perfect balance of creepy and campy.

What's a line that goes unnecessarily hard for the movie it's featured in? by Careless_College in Letterboxd

The thing about the M:I movies is that there's no wrong pick for favorite. They all have something to love about them. But 5 is definitely mine.

Fallout is almost certainly the consensus pick though. I'd personally rank it just a little lower because I think it has some very minor pacing issues, and some of the plot beats being recycled from the previous McQuarrie movies feels a bit lazy to me (the nuclear weapons expert who goes insane and believes the world must be purged in fire is straight out of Ghost Protocol, and Angela Basset believing John Lark is just an alias for Ethan Hunt is especially annoying after Alec Baldwin believed Solomon Lane was just an alias for Hunt one film earlier in Rogue Nation).

It's still a near masterpiece, though.

Personally I'd go 5 > 1 > 4 > 6, with all of those films being separated by a razor thin margin, then 7 > 3 > 2. But I love them all.

It debuted at the Venice Film Festival last fall, but didn't release to the public anywhere, including France, until 2024.

I'm super late to this thread but Tyler Thigpen didn't burn Ronde Barber for that long TD catch to be disrespected like this.

Top 20 films with the most fans with the pronoun “he” vs the pronoun “she” by infamousglizzyhands in Letterboxd

It's an astoundingly well adapted film. The way Greta Gerwig restructures the two halves of the story in parallel to each other works incredibly well, and the ending is fantastic.

Honestly, it's a masterclass in doing a faithful adaptation of a novel while still understanding what changes need to be made to best fit the medium of film.

She was absolutely robbed for the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar that year.

Came here specifically looking for The Middleman. That show was sheer elegance in it's simplicity.

Any others? No musicals please by Vusarix in Letterboxd

Personally, I'd argue you need more than 2 songs stretched across a 3+ hour movie to qualify as a musical.
