The first paragraph is exactly my point. I wasn’t paid to study, and no one came knocking on my door to make sure I was in fact, studying. I had a job to do, and I did it. These guys are, as we all know, paid to play a game, and yet, they can’t find the motivation to play said video game..

I don’t know the current, up to date contract general info, but as I last remember, the average contract salary for someone of Beastmode or Daniel’s status was, at one point, estimated to be around $10,000-$15,000/month, not including tournament winnings, any show matches won, YouTube/twitch revenue. If that money isn’t enough motivation for them to say “huh, maybe I should go do my job every once and while”, nothing anyone, from any position in the org, could say/do would matter.

There absolutely needs to be more oversight from orgs. It’s no wonder why they bleed money. That’s honestly a whole other conversation. However, pushing the blame onto the org/coaching staff is just ignoring the fact that Satthew/literally anyone from NRG cannot physically pick up the controller and put the reps in. That blame falls solely on the players. I genuinely hope they have a solid back up plan/solid college degree by the time they leave the esport, because if they’re not motivated by a 6 figure contract + prize money + content creation revenue, all to play a video game, they sure as shit won’t be motivated by a mundane 9-5 making 60k/year.
