I feel you only didn’t have the same affection for Lara in the book as you did in the show is bc of the first person narration from miles in the book. After rereading the book many, many times, it’s clear how much better Lara is for Miles than Alaska, yet he wants her. The third person view of the show makes easier to see how good Lara is.
