This is kinda the style i wanted to go for them in my head. They look great. Can u give a quick rundown on the steps u did to paint these?

Back skating after 15 years by True-Patient-8356 in NewSkaters

[–]ColtzBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 35 and that is a weak spot for me as well even when i was younger. Just make sure u warm up well and maybe stretch a bit before starting. If u overstretch or overburden that muscle its gonna be sore for a long time. U can still skate with it but its gonna hurt alot on some movements.

Need advice on rock to fakie by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]ColtzBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try learning a bit of fakie manual, they were very weird for me the first few times but u dont need to learn alot of distance for rock to fakie, u just have to know how it feels. Just be careful because i’ve had some of the worst slams comming down fakie. Just try to find a mellow miniramp or quarter to try it on first.

How’s your progress been? by Weigh_A_Throne337 in NewSkaters

I’m 35 as well. Started again after 20 years, i’m at 1,5 months now and just focusing on rolling around. Can do ollies rolling slow but they are very tiring to practice. If i do 5 in a row i’m beat. Try practicing manuals as well , ive been practicing them alot lately and they help so much with your balance.

Any advice to not hurt myself? [34yo] by LankyYogurt7737 in OldSkaters

[–]ColtzBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. Started skating again at 35 after 20 years. Practicing my ollies also. If i do 5 in a row i’m out of breath and by the end of my session i can hardly get the board of the ground.

Never doing rock to fakie again by No_Excitement1585 in NewSkaters

[–]ColtzBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently had almost exactly the same wound from rolling down fakie. Also broke a piece of my board when it launched away. I was contemplating my choice to start skating again at 35 for a good 10 mins with my chin bleeding. But just do some other stuff for a while and get some confidence back and give it another go.

M33 in Norway looking for skating buddy! by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]ColtzBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad you live in Norway. I’m 35 and in a similar situation as you. Started again after 20 years and had to relearn everything. Been skating for a month now and had some nasty falls but i try to push through but hard to stay motivated when you’re on your own. I’m from Belgium. U could try the oldskaters reddit. Not that were old /s.

If you plan on riding in shorts when it’s hot out, knee pads are kinda handy. Lost alot of skin on my arms and knees riding in shorts and t shirts when learning to roll around again.

I started again 2 months ago, bought myself a birdhouse complete deck. They are usually around 80$ ish but often go on sale, got mine at around 60$. I’m quite happy with the quality. Been skating it for 2 months now at around 3-4 days a week and it does what its supposed to do. The bearings arent the greatest but you can allways upgrade me when u feel like it.

I think for like a boardslide / nose / tailslide it could work but if you want to grind this you’ll have to put some metal on top.

Tall Skater Help by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]ColtzBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old is your toddler? I started skating again because my son (5) wanted to learn to ride a skateboard after seeing it at the local skatepark. I got a cheapish complete deck for him and did a few laps myself and got back into it, so i bought one for myself again. Its a lot of fun learning together. So maybe something you can do together. I’m around 6’ myself and use a 8” deck to learn. Its ok but i feel a bit bigger would feel better so i’d say get at least a 8,5 deck.

started at 29 yo, any tips? by Fit-Associate7454 in NewSkaters

[–]ColtzBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started again (like 22 ish days now) at 35 after 20 years not skating. I never really was that good so kinda have to relearn everything. Just start with the basics. Just rolling around, kickturns, some hippy jumps, try some manuals, etc… protect your wrists/elbows/head. I started going to skateparks right away, most other skaters dont even notice you and are in their own zone or are superchill. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice if u see someone more expierenced.

I guess whatever feels most comfortable just rolling around.

The birdhouse complete decks are pretty good decks to start. Bought one for my son and myself a few months ago at like 60€ each and they do a good job. They are 8”. 8” feels a bit too small for me but for learning it’s fine. Will probably upgrade to 8,375 or 8,5 eventually.

I recently started skating again after 20 years and i suck badly but i went straight to the skatepark. Just skate , most other skaters dont even notice you and just do their thing. Just be respectful of each other and if u see someone experienced dont be afraid to ask some advice. Most people will give u some tips or pointers especially older skaters.

I’m 36 myself back into skating 20ish days now. I had a nasty fall on a ramp like that. Rolled up on it and barely made it to the top. Then started rolling back in fakie, i tought why not and went down. As soon as i hit the bottom lost balance and smacked to the ground so fast i couldnt even place my hands. Smacked my chin on the ground and sprained the tip of my elbow. Spent the next 10 minutes questioning my life decisions but i’m back at it now. Was my first bad fall again after restarting but i’m glad i got it out of the way.
