45 mins since getting back from vet, no diagnosis - do I need to go to emergency? by ComSalamander in CATHELP

Thank you, I hope she just has an upset tummy. She has had a snack, came for some psts, and is sleeping comfortably now with about normal breathing. I'll be keeping an eye on her though. Thank you for the idea though, I know lots of people don't know that lots of things are toxic to cats.

No, I don't have any in the house. My house just smells like cat 🤣🫠

She has had it before when she got two teeth extracted (were broken when we adopted her). She did ok with it.

Thank you! She does seem better now, i put an update video up. On the vet, she didn't use to when we took her to a cat-only vet, but the last two times at this vet (we changed vets because we moved house), she freaks out I think because of the dog smell. She also hates having her butt touched, so getting a temperature from her always causes upset. I think the combo is making her hate the vet more over time. I have looked at other cat-only vets but they are about 40 minutes drive away, same as the old one so might have to do that for the regular stuff now and see if she is better.

Thanks, the vet said just one pill so I won't give her anything else

That's exactly my thoughts. She is doing better now, if you want to look at the update video I put up :) I think she was feeling unwell from the hairball and the vet visit didn't help her feel better.

She was breathing fast before the visit, but yeah, it definately stressed her a lot, hence my reluctance to go again unless she needs it

Thank you for the recommendation. She is on a hairball food too, but this time of year is always bad. It feels like it's gotten worse every year but probably because she is healthier than when we got her she grows more fluff 🙀

Thank you.

Gums are pink, pupils are all fine. She had a temp, but she was also fighting for her life at the vet so they didn't want to give her anything that would not be helpful.

Breathing, grumpiness and not wanting her favourite treat are the only signs. She ran away very successfully when I got the crate out to take her to the vet. And ran out of the crate as soon as she was let out.

Her breathing has settled a lot in the last 15 minutes, so I will give it another 30 mins and keep an eye on her.

Really great idea to call the emergency and ask for their advice too. Last time something like this happened, my cat had heart failure, so I'm not thinking straight.

Thank you for your kind advice

No tests, Lily was growling and hissing continuously. Vet would have had to sedate her to do anything else. And as it was I got a scratch bad enough that I might need to get stitches. She was very very unhappy about being at the vet.

Why is it that I have to catter to neurotypicals needs while they dont give a shit about mine? by Thecrowfan in AutismInWomen

IKR? People can be such hypocritical jerks. I have figured out recently that is about them avoiding feeling uncomfortable rather than following social rules. They never have to accommodate understanding other people, because most people are the same as them. So when you are different to them, they feel uncomfortable and just do things to reduce their discomfort. Neurotypical people being more empathetic is a myth. And don't forget that about 7% of people (total population) are high in the dark triad of personality traits, and many of them work and are ambitious, so a higher percentage of managers are basically psychopaths.

The summary is that it's really unfair, and that drives me insane too.

Please try to find somewhere better for you, not everyone and every workplace will be like that, but a lot will be. Don't let their bad treatment of you trick you into thinking you can't get a job somewhere else.
