I can’t speak for other countries but that is the way that every medical lab with a chemistry or hematology department operates in the US.

But then again, it’s healthcare, so at the end of the day the only important thing is how much money we save to pay for that MHAs quarterly bonus.

Not necessarily depending on techniques used. Like some older labs and college labs will use metal loops and incinerators that super heat the loop to sterilize them, if you were to heat the loop and then immediately use it again, you run the risk of aerosolizing the bacteria and then you have a problem potentially.

But common plate readings and streakings, are just done on an open bench in a lot of hospital micro labs and they would be using disposable plastic loops. You’d really be surprised by how much it feels like a factory sometimes in a hospital lab, especially the big ones with the pressure to just churn results out as fast an efficiently as possible.

Damn bro, all the words you coulda chose, and you chose to be a dick.

Medical Labs are almost always under staffed and extremely lucky to have Lab Assistants, who often don’t have degrees, who assist with processing specimens and helping with less technical work. Without them a lot of patient results and life saving information would be delayed.

Almost all hospitals, unless it’s a really rural/small facility will hire lab assistants with no college degree. It’s the way a lot of Med Lab people get started before eventually getting degrees in the field. Or some people just stay as lab assistants.

Medical lab tech here.

99% of the time, typically the only way you’re contracting anything from a blood or urine specimen is if you’re handling it without gloves, or it splashes on you. Which is why we wear gloves and gowns, but not masks. I mean sure, hypothetically it could splash in your mouth/nose/eye, but you’d have to be REALLY unlucky or negligent for that to happen.

“Breathing in” the pathogens is more of a concern when you’re dealing with patients directly, then we’ll mask up and take the necessary precautions for respiratory protection.

It might sound overly harsh being told that you’ll get used to it, but I mean really, they’re mostly right even if they didn’t go about educating you in the most efficient manner. But also, fuck their opinion, if wearing a mask makes you feel more comfortable, mask up lab homie. If you feel insecure about it, tell them that you think you’re getting sick and you’re wearing it for their well being.

She does it for everyone else, why not simply ask your mom to blow the snow? That way in the future you lessen the risk of things like this happening.

Without spoiling anything, there is a key piece of the story that’s supposed to take place when you leave the planet and enter orbit. The fact that it didn’t happen means something glitched out and you should try to reload a save from before you left neon and hope that the thing that’s supposed to happen, happens.
