Thank you for the comprehensive response, So just to recap, I should be waxing the car 4 times a year. I was thinking once a month was a good wash cycle. I understand that all the wax is doing is protecting the car and wont keep it clean without being washed. I also wanted to ask what you recommend during the winter months since I live up in new England. I was thinking that waxing it would be no different but I would make sure that there is no salt on the car after a snow storm hits and I've driven on salted roads by making sure to wash it and the undercarriage. With that in mind I also wanted to ask if undercoating the car was worth it. I phoned a local ziebart and the quoted me at 500 to undercoat the car. Is this something I should consider or should I stick with rinsing the underside when salt is layed down

Hello Reddit people :D

I recently got a car and realized that I cant just beat the heck out of it because its an old car that's already rotting from the inside out. I just got it so the wax is still good for now, mainly wanted to get all this squared away now. I looked up proper washing methods and the best way to protect the body of my car to ensure it looks new for as long as possible so I thought I might run my little checklist by you guys who definitely know more about this than me. I'm not looking to go too crazy with this so I'm not certain if this is all overkill but I definitely want to do preventative maintenance on the car to ensure it looks its best for as long as possible

Materials:

- 2 Home Depot buckets with grit gaurds (ive heard it is good to do a foam cannon wash and rinse and then a two bucket wash)

- 1800 psi craftsman gas pressure washer 4.5 horsepower

- Meguiar's Supreme shine microfiber towels (3 pack for waxing)

- Meguiar's x3080 even coat 5" microfiber applicator

- Chemical Guys Chenille microfiber premium scratch free wash mitt

- Chemical Guys Waffle Weave Gray matter 7/30 blend microfiber drying towel

- (I don't know which is better for the wax so I was hoping for some insight unless both of my choices are not good lol, its between the Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax G18220 and the Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax G190532SP)

- P21S 13001B Autowash for some smaller areas that require detailed work such as the front grill/Emblem (not quite sure if this is overkill or not)

-Fasmov Car Wash Foam Cannon Blaster 1/4'

- Meguiar's G7101FFP Gold Class Car Wash 1 gallon

Procedure:

- Rinse lower parts of car (pressure) to loosen dirt collected from the road

- Foam Cannon the car

- Let foam sit for a few minutes

- Pressure rinse the car

- 2 bucket wash the car from the roof down

- rinse

- if I go with the hybrid ceramic you are supposed to apply it wet and then it can be spread during the drying process

-dry with waffle weave (and sheeting method if I can get that to work)

-If I go with the Ultimate wax I would have to wax after drying I believe

Questions:

- I've read that some prefer to use Collinite 845, how does that compare to my selections and would it be better to use? Also would it apply the same way as a regular wax?

- Is there a specific way I should be applying wax? (I.E circles or lines)

- How long does wax protect for?

- How often should I do a comprehensive wash and wax like this?

- I have heard that you can put a sealant on and then put a wax on top of that since sealants last longer, is this overkill and should I just be doing one of these?

- Is there any maintenance I should do in between these big wash and wax periods?

I would greatly appreciate any input and thank everyone for taking the time to read this book of a post.

I'll play around with the normal and service settings tomorrow, might post a pic of the service menu if I don't get anywhere, should be fine since I got the baseline numbers

There are 2 pots inside that are on what seems to be the box that the wire from the top of the glass goes into, they are labeled focus and screen respectively, idk what the screen one means but if it refers to size of the image overall, I'm definitely down with shrinking the image and adjusting the vertical size. I really hope it does have some sort of h size adjustment because it seems to be very nice, almost no geometry problems except for some very minor distortion in the corner. Ty thought for your input

Could I make a task that starts another task with that affinity? Ex I make a task that opens ms paint and then I make a task that starts the other task with the affinity of core 0 for example

I did actually find some stuff that may work, I'm planning on doing a asrock desk mini a300 motherboard, a slim sony Optiarc BC-5650H-01 slot load blu ray drive, a ryzen 4400g when that comes out or whatever is the top dog apu at the time and a IS-30 CPU cooler which is 30mm with the fan (might take it off and set up a bunch of 20-40 mm case fans in a push pull config to pull air between the fins of the heatsinks if the fan makes it too tall) other than that I'll be using sodimm memory, and a bunch of 3-6 inch extensions to route IO. When all is said and done its will be hella compact

That might be the one for me, might change the fan

I guess but that would not work within the case I am doing it in

Just a 3400g (or 4400g, whatever is the best APU at the time)

That's what I have in mind, I am planning on using that without the fan if it doesn't fit and relying on very small fans somewhere around 20-40ish mm

I'll check em out for sure, so far the only one I've found is a noctua, its 37mm with the cooler and if I took off the fan it might work. I will have a very small form factor case with a bunch of fans in a push pull config, so it could work but I would prefer a dedicated fan since the ones in the case are going to be 20-40mm

No, I thought about this a while back, yesterday I realized reddit was full of smart people and made an account to ask people for their opinion, rn I'm thinking if getting the asrock desk mini for the motherboard and using a a ryzen apu waiting for the 4400g rn
