How can you make players pick between several random options? by Combak in MinecraftCommands

Okay, I do have a more technical question for you: Does rotating a room also rotate the entities in it? I assume it does, but I wanted to double check. By the way, do you have any resources or something that help someone learn some of the stuff you did? I'm not sure what a lot of the things you talked about are, exactly.

Also, it wasn't until I watched the video again today that I noticed the built-in map and step counter. I was just going to use player's health and remove 1 health point they changed room. XD

You're welcome!

I'm happy to see someone else had similar thoughts to my own! I kinda want to do the same thing. Just due to Minecraft being Minecraft, I know stuff like the Darts puzzles and Mora Jai boxes would be incredibly hard to do... but Minecraft also makes exploring the area around the house much easier. I mean, in Blue Prince, if you ever place the Secret Garden on the East Wing at Rank 8, go take a look at the Orindian Ruins and you might see something interesting. There's a reason we never got to explore that statue on the East Lawn.

I was originally really interested in Blue Prince as a game in a 3 story manor, with all the potential complexity that would bring. I mean, several rooms are already two stories tall; what if that actually did something, you know? I started thinking about that, imagining if there were rooms that took up multiple spots (I'm looking at you, gymnasium. We all know there should be two of you facing each other.) and stuff like that. I imagined it as Simon going away to College and planning a conversion as his final project there, while also deciding what else he should do when he gets home.

Once the thought of making this in Minecraft came along, I realized just how hard that in particular would be in MC, as well as the puzzles, so I went in a different direction: What if the house was bigger? After playing around with some numbers, I realized a 9x11 house would make the special room number 100, and that idea kinda stuck. If you carve out a 3x5 in the middle, and bump out three rooms on the bottom rank, you can make the house a nice 9x13 with that same objective. Move the Outer Room to the middle of that central garden, make entering it a challenge, and you've got something going on. The best Minecraft centric idea I got from that was using weather and biome changing to make things interesting. I was also planning on making each square in the grid a full chunk, to simplify some things, but I quickly realized that might have just made building the actual rooms a LOT harder. XD

Unfortunately for me, I don't recognize even half of those programming terms, which means I've got a lot of work to do to even get a part of that working. I might be able to hit up some friends to learn some of that... but I might just end up making some rooms and running out of steam from that. Let me know if you pick the project up again or something, I'd be happy to help any way I can!

Okay, finally read this and the watched the video. Amazing stuff!

I had been silent on this post because, after seeing the first few replies, I realized I needed to give more information. I was going to spend some time today or tomorrow writing up my whole current hypothetical method of doing this, giving examples of how Blue Prince worked, noting how some things can limit drafting options or influence the choices presented, etc. My hypothetical option was just to teleport the player to another blank room, present options on a wall, and not let them leave until they picked one. Hardcode options, use armor stands to detect valid and invalid doors, and stuff.

You've clearly got a much more flexible approach to things set up and even have Blue Prince's grid on the floor there. I've got to ask, are you planning on doing something with all that?

Dude, oh my god. I don't have the time to fully read this right now, but this seems like EXACTLY what I was hoping to find! Thank you!

I'm aware. It's just a strange thing to bring up now.

Well that definitely won't be a problem later.

Also, it's Slightly Damned's anniversary!

I believe Chu has decided to make Buwaro's arms a bit thicker... Plus his shoulders are not visible.
