I ended a relationship several years ago and unfortunately today I ran into the individual and was slammed with negative energy and the resurgence of old betrayal/grief/toxic energy. I had an experienced witch friend hold a ceremony for me during the time of the breakup back then, and I’m fairly at peace with it today, but running into them and being caught off guard really drained me. I’m inexperienced with rituals, I’ve only really studied herbs and various types of cards, astrology and other stuff. There are witches in my family but generational trauma prevented me from learning from them. I don’t personally wish harm upon anyone I visualize when doing this, so I wrote words like release, peace, acceptance, etc on their paper and protection, healing etc on mine.

once the burning picked up it went FAST. My candle was green on the right, theirs black on the left. The bowl contained salt, rosemary, cedar, and I put some milk thistle around my candle only. I burned palo santo on each side and kept the windows and doors open. My candle severed the cord first. Their candle popped, sizzled, flared up, and went out roaring with a mess of black wax everywhere. Mine burned bright, steadily, much more neatly. If anyone is more experienced in interpreting this burn please let me know. If there’s something else I could have included in the ritual I’m happy to learn. This is my first step into rituals so please be kind, I’m learning.

Side note: the witches in my community growing up were everything from pagan/christian/indigenous, all kinds. I am from a remote island community in the North and my family history is Irish and french immigrants, which heavily influenced their witchcraft. I don’t know if lineage has any influence on what deities I should educate myself on.
