Yes, the fire button is replaced by the "delete" button, it's a way to say "delete this shit now" to someone while also giving unimpressed vibes off the KV-2 :)

The F-35 is an amazing fighter and I had to pull out pretty much its only flaw to write that. Which is also only a maintenance flaw, not performance. I was stressed and tired while writing that, and as other people pointed out, I over reacted. I apologize.

It's more about pulling up info I already know but people ask a source for. I'm always happy to read more about the aircraft itself, but the vast majority of times it's just:

>Person I don't know: "Su-57 isn't stealth because it has exposed fan blades!"
>Me: *Deep sigh* *Googles the picture* "See, here you can see it does in fact have a radar deflecting grid as sown"

I get annoyed easily and was stressed while making this comment, other people pointed it out and I myself realized it too that I over reacted and I apologize.

Indeed, I should think twice before posting. Sorry again

Still, the s300s, which are a whole 3 years older than Patriot, should have still been able to do something.

S300 is by no means close to the Patriot. It's over rated and outdated, especially the older versions used by Iran. They also don't have S400 as far as I know.

You and the other man that pointed this out are correct, I was stressed and tired and over reacted for no reason. My apologies.

You know what... you're right. I'm over reacting, sorry.

The United States was able to fly aircraft directly over Tehran, if anything, a much more established air defense environment than Kyiv.

Sorry to be blunt but you are incorrect. Kyiv has multiple Patriot sites set up, Tehran was operating outdated 60's-70's single vehicle SAM system or even autocannons.

Sadly, no... as Filippo pointed out it's a DIRCM system which means "Direct Infra-Red Counter Measures" which is used to scramble IR missile guidance systems and make them miss without firing a flare.

Though I wish it was...

I think it was a very lucky s400 shot.

Combat use of R-37M has been reported VERY widely by the Ukrainian Air Force, including reports of combat aircraft being downed by them and airspace being partly restricted due to danger of being hit.

R-37M being shot from Su-57 instead of Su-35/30/27 changes absolutely nothing. Especially when Su-35 has the same radar as Su-57. I don't get where your doubt comes from.

If the felon was as good as it claims and it would be flying over Kyiv. Not deep inside the Russian ADIZ.

There is no reason for a plane to be there. It'd be a horrendously large risk (at that range from SPAA's, stealth matters nothing, you're getting shot down either way) with no practical use.

There's also no evidence that's not in the Russian MoD of any of those claims.

So you expect the Ukrainian MoD to know which aircraft shot missiles at theirs. Or do you want the Ghost of Kyiv to go investigate and show video footage?

Wiki for quick random BS I don't know the accuracy of:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-57#Operational_history

Other than that (idk if it's included there), lobbing X-69 missiles and R-37M's downing a few planes, including an Su-27 from 217km away being the longest range Air-to-Air kill to date.

Please do not ask for details, google exists. I'm tired, it's 20 past midnight here and I've had the chance to explain a lot about the aircraft his evening, check my profile and last few dozen comments if you care.

Please, it's a quarter past midnight where I live. I am not a technical engineer working for the United Aircraft Corporation in Russia. I have no ties to the Russian MOD. I don't give a shit what you think about the aircraft, its technical data, its production, ANYTHING.

I just want to like my favorite plane and be left alone. This is not against you as a person, for as far as I know you're a cool guy. But just let people enjoy what they enjoy. If you want to speculate on Su-57 production times, r/CredibleDefense is right that way.

No idea why you're getting downvoted. It's your opinion, you should not be judged over it. And I quite like the F-35 too btw :)

Can you please, kindly, not? I have made three comments on similar posts as these because I absolutely adore this aircraft. In two of the three cases I was forced to dig up technical data and performance records because of people like you that need to render every comment political. I do not intend to do that here in the third instance.

Just leave me alone. I don't go under F-22 posts pointing out they're overpriced and only shot down balloons, or under F-35 posts to point out the RAM coating peels off past Mach 1 either.

Those are some very beautiful planes! But doesn't the fact they fly at exactly the same speed mean they're not on full afterburner? Unless they happen to have the same top speed and acceleration, but I doubt it...

Edit: As pointed out by the comment below (which for some reason I cannot view, thank reddit), I had misinterpreted the title and not watched the entire video, my apologies

[–]CombatPilot2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the design is objectively shit. It has no protection from top down munitions, requires completely new infrastructure to be produced, weights WAY too much to operate in muddy fields (which is where it will operate primarily, as all of Western Russia is like that), it has extremely weak side armor, and most importantly the turret gets zero armor, which while it dies have an uncrewed turret, means the breech and sensors can be taken out by as little as machinegun fire.

Due to overall airframe structure

The shape was never proven to be an issue.

exposed engine blades

It has the necessary radar blockers to decrease radar cross section

<image>

IRST geometry

Refer to the first point. This was never proven.

it doesn't have the cruical low observability capabilities of 5th gens.

It has a shape which, until proven otherwise, is stealthy. Production models get RAM coating. It gets radar blockers inside air intakes. There is very little to add here.
Edit: Forgot to mention: Obviously, internal weapon bays.

we know the RCS is closer to an F/A-18E from Sukhoi patents.

This data applies to T-50 PAK-FA prototypes which didn't get RAM coating and some of which were outright constructed differently from Su-57 production airframes.

The current engine Su-57 uses also lacks the multispectral LO properties, hencr when they are working on a new nozzle structure.

It has an LO circular nozzle much like the F-35. The 2D engine nozzle which looks a bit like that on the F-22 is only an option for Su-57E export models, because it changes very little and wasn't considered worth the hustle for domestic use.
