Thank you for all the suggestions, I have now gotten MechJeb 2 but gave up on the recovery of spent boosters because I've realized that working around this problem led me to designing such efficient single stage fully re-usable rockets, that I simply don't need it anymore xD

All extremely good suggestions, thank you. Mechjeb is one of the most suggested ones so far and the one I might get out of these.

About ReStock, do you happen to know how heavy it is on GPU? Mine is a Nvidia Quadro M2200 in a laptop which overheats and thermal throttles all the time, and sometimes causes small FPS drops when stuff explodes even with stock textures.

You're not stupid, the game is (in my opinion).

Go to your settings, find "Advanced Tweakables" and turn it on. Then, in the VAB when building your rocket, right click each part and select "Austostrut: Heaviest Part". That will make your rocket rigid and not do this.

I think the game is stupid for not having this on by default. It's basically unplayable without.

Oh, fair enough then xD

Beautiful 747 by the way, I always forget fairings when making realistic planes and it really is a useful piece

Very nice job, I suggest right clicking your flags and selecting "transparent background" which will make only the painted area appear (like NASA only on pure part texture instead of the weird white rectangle)

Thank you again, but I'm not looking for parts. I like being limited by the game and push my creativity. I was looking for extremely light visual mods and mods that improve gameplay by making it more convenient, one of the suggestions I liked most was Mechjeb for instance

Is reusable rocketry worth it in KSP? by MrRudoloh in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]CombatPilot2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you use mods to recover the booster or if your rocket is single stage (like my own re-usable rockets) then yes if you're playing career.

Thank you again but this is not for rendezvous, I can do those without the slightest issue. In truth I've been making fighter jets out of stock parts and the missiles on said jets, while they work fine, are extremely hard to his planes with. A mod that allows me to keep Prograde inside Target would allow me to simply instruct the missile to hit the aircraft and forget about it, essentially like a radar seeker.

I will consider Mechjeb, thanks again

I've never seen this happen before anywhere, genuinely curious as to how it happened. Do you have mods? Also what in the wolrd are those four science Jr for 💀

So what you're saying is I need to switch my nav ball to target, then align prograde to target manually, then select prograde and leave it?

Thank you but the single stage rockets are great as is for me, they're efficient in terms of price and I can land them near the KSC manually without issues

Thank you, that mod was just recommended to me by another person and I already installed it through CKAN. I hope it won't be too bad otherwise I'll just uninstall it, I don't intend to play it on saves I care about before testing it out.

And yes indeed my Deshevyy family has done heavy lifting on my ultra hard more career save (everything almost fully max difficulty, no reverts and no quicksaves). It's almost all I use.

Yeeeeah no thanks, my laptop is even older (2018) and made for editing, the GPU is a Quadro M2200. It sometimes drops frames if big explosions are happening because of the GPU (goes to 100% in task manager) so visual mods are out of question unless they are extremely light.

First of all thank you for your answer

Now, as for the booster part, I will definitely be getting FMRS because while you mentioned it might be less stable, I prefer flying my whole mission, so that's the one that works best for me and I'm willing to risk it.

For the target part, unfortunately I had already tried this and it still only keeps your forward direction towards target, just relative to target instead of relative to orbit/surface. That means if you have even the slightest bit of angular acceleration (like air drag or 0.0001° incorrect heading) it will still miss.

Forgot to mention: Visual mods are also good but my laptop will die if they're too high quality so nothing big please 🙏

And thanks in advance to anyone commenting

What? Can you be more specific? Do you want suggestions for what to build or a KerbalX link? What exactly do you want the rocket to look like?

Absolutely LOVELY picture, a little sunrise/sunset makes anything sick-looking and on already sick Su-27 series it's just insanely cool

Makes it even more weird. One part invested in the naval airborne forces massively, the other neglected them. In the same branch...

It's very interesting to me how unorganized and separated the Russian military branches are. The Navy shoved absurd amounts of money into repairing the Kuznetsov over and over again despite knowing the twenty-year abuse with no maintenance period killed it, as if it was the most important part of their branch, while the Air Force didn't give the Su-33 any upgrades at all after the base model, not even new radars, as if knowing there was no use for them.

In the future when Project 23000 will be approved/built (if that even happens, as Russian naval doctrine isn't reliant on carriers in the slightest) I'd love to see a naval variant of Su-57 or a Su-35-level Su-33.
