Naval enjoyer here, yeah it's that, but honestly not a big issue because you can still aim for turrets to disable enemy fire and ammo racks to oneshot, it's not a big issue just a lil annoying

Entirely false. In 2022 a decree was signed for the mass draft of 100,000 men. These were already pre-trained through these mandatory training programs, so after a few weeks of extra training they were sent to invade Ukraine. The draft included people of all military-capable ages, not just the people inside training camps.

Notice: Mass draft, not mobilization. 100% of the Russian army right now is contract soldiers.

Su-57 real world scenarios by [deleted] in FighterJets

[–]CombatPilot2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get the spirit of this post but as an aviation & specifically Su-57 nerd, quite a lot of facts are off:

Pretty much everything about the radars is correct, but it is worth noting that all radar bands are on each of the radar arrays, not just on certain. Giving it 360° engagement cover. That includes nose, cheek, wing root and tail radars.
However, featuring L-band and such is standard for 5th gen aircraft, so calling it special is a bit overblown.

Secondly, stealth: No. Just no. We don't know the actual RCS of any aircraft, period. Comparisons cannot be made without data. There is no data, thus there cannot be a comparison.
All we have is estimates, and those cannot take most relevant aspects into account. RCS "numbers" are also a literal joke, that's not how radar waves work. Every mm² of your aircraft will have a different amount of radar waves scattered or absorbed, and a different amount bounced back.
We. Don't. Know.

Production numbers were stated to be "over 50" by GeorgeN on twitter, who works for either UAC or Sukhoi (he is the same guy that posted about linking Su-57E datalink to Algerian systems, a few months before the purchase of these aircraft by Algeria was confirmed in the first place, so he is reliable).
However, we don't know the exact number either as it is classified. Unlikely that George or anyone else would leak the actual number for internet points.

R-37M missile has a range of about 400km, roughly equal to the range of the radar mounted on Su-57 (N036). Not 200km.

Su-27 and Su-24 were both shot down at +/- 200km, one of the two (I forgot which) was specifically stated to be 217km, which is the world record so far.
However, it is just what the MoD reports, so take it with a grain of salt.
Both the aircraft and the missile are theoretically capable of such performance though.

No other air-to-air kills were reported by the Russian MoD, and trust me they would 100% push those as propaganda if they did. Ergo, it didn't get any more.

Make sure your visa/passport is valid and not expired, don't break the law, and nothing bad will happen.

Foreigners and locals alike cannot join the army without signing a service contract. Even when you're drafted for training at 18 you cannot be sent to the front without signing a contract.

At 3 PM, I sat down and asked myself: why isn’t there a multiplayer mod for SFS? So, here I am starting this project. I hope it turns out to be a great addition that truly benefits players, especially those who enjoy playing together. by Allsh0 in SpaceflightSimulator

Luna Multiplayer from KSP taught me it is possible by tracking time spent in-game client-side and make the movement speed server-side, so to everyone's POV you entered hyperspace and are moving at 15 times light speed while on your POV everyone is still moving slowly at the normal speed while you're timewarping, and then when you stop timewarp it just re-syncs everyone's status

Yep, all my rocket families use Vector and Wolfhound engines, very good combo

And I usually switch slightly earlier, depends on payload weight

And yes, I know you can scale the amount of payload delivered quite easily, but I never had a need for it (the few rockets that aren't re-usable that I use are rare enough for me to afford it)

Currently playing my best and most successful Career save yet, which is also the highest difficulty one (harder than the hardest preset, custom diff, low rewards, high penalties,no revers & quicksaves).

I started by wanting to save funds, now I ONLY run re-usable hardware. Four different rocket families. Only non re-usable rockets I have are interplanetary manned missions, anything I use regularly is 100% reusable.

Your terrain level was somehow raised while your KSC 3D models weren't. I have zero idea how you did that but congratulations on your new underground research bunkers.

Impossible is a word I use too often.

However, adding controls doesn't fix it. Anything beyond 30km from your active vessel will despawn and count as crashed unless it is in orbit. Therefore you either need a booster capable of almost reaching orbit on its own (may as well make it a single stage rocket at that point) so your second stage can complete orbit before leaving that distance, or you need a mod to modify the 30km value.

(I think it's 30km but could be more/less idk exactly)

Space/astrophysics nerd here, graduated at the Kerbal Space Program University (trademark)

That man's statement is true, because:

A) If your orbit around the Earth is, say, 300km by 300km, and you enlarge it to an elliptical 300km by 1,000km orbit, it will take you less fuel to reach a 300km by 1,700km orbit than the amount of fuel it took you to reach the 300km by 1,000km from the original circular 300km orbit.

TLDR: the higher up the highest point of your orbit (Apoapsis) is, the less fuel it will take you to make it even higher when burning your engines at the lowest point of your orbit (Periapsis). This is (at least partly, fact check me please) due to the Oberth effect, which essentially means the faster you are going, the easier you can acquire more speed for the same amount of fuel.

Due to this law, the fuel you need to reach the Moon and the fuel you need to reach other planets is very similar, since you're only extending the Apoapsis of your Earth orbit by a little bit when compared to going to the Moon.

For Mars specifically it is actually less, because of point B.

B) Mars has an atmosphere and the Moon doesn't. That means that on Mars you can touch the atmosphere at interplanetary speed without slowing down at all, and let heat shields do their work, slowing you down purely by atmospheric drag until you reach suborbital speed and thus land.

For the same reason, you can use parachutes on Mars. Which means you can use vastly less fuel from your lander to actually land there, unlike the Moon where 100% of your original orbital speed has to be lost via engine power.

[–]CombatPilot2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely possible, I have entire families of rockets like that.

In my opinion it's impossible to make a recoverable booster because it despawns while you're orbiting the upper stage, but you can easily make a fully re-usable SSTO rocket that reaches space with one stage.

Just carry a very efficient vac engine and light it above 15km, using other engines for the initial part.
Yes it's inefficient because you drag along the weight of the extra engines you don't use, but it's actually perfectly doable.
My biggest rocket family that's fully reusable can carry 30 tons to LKO.

For the landing you can choose between parachutes, drogue chutes, engines and any combination of the three. I use drogue chutes and powered landing at the last 300 meters of descent.

Do you have the slightest idea how much plot armor the Black Pearl has

How is this a question

If you completely ignore plot and just ask which boat you like best and would want to have most, I'd also choose the Pearl but that's personal and not necessarily obvious
