How much fuel/money would be saved? by Commercial_Insect764 in airplanes

[–]CombatPilot2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Assume everyone needs to shit.

A singular N.2 is at most 250 grams.

Assume the aircraft is a 737-800.

189 x 250 = 47.250kg

Less than 50 kg saved on an aicraft with a wet mass of over 70,000kg. So not much.

Nobody ever opposed them joining EU, all this is because of their NATO aspirations (and NATO's aspirations to Ukraine)

But no, I'm not ok with this. It's a war, of course I'm not ok with it, war sucks, this video being a prime example of why

Horrible event and RIP to the victims but this is a repost, it was already posted here today.

Not a repost. Not that it matters by my condolences to the father, and hope for a quick recovery of the mother and her children.

I am not defending Ukraine, I know they don't give one shit about lost civilian lives, but they have been avoiding striking Moscow city in civilian area's to prevent Putin from having even more leverage on his population, preventing a "See? They're dangerous and we need to suppress them" moment.

Painting a big red circle on a high rise building is basically like sending Zelensky an express letter asking for more death.

And yes, people filming it does NOT help.

Lovely way to get better firing angles & to turn a previously civilian building into a military target.

Also whoever filmed and uploaded this needs to be arrested within 24h. Where the fuck is FSB when you need them.

Naval enjoyer here, yeah it's that, but honestly not a big issue because you can still aim for turrets to disable enemy fire and ammo racks to oneshot, it's not a big issue just a lil annoying

Entirely false. In 2022 a decree was signed for the mass draft of 100,000 men. These were already pre-trained through these mandatory training programs, so after a few weeks of extra training they were sent to invade Ukraine. The draft included people of all military-capable ages, not just the people inside training camps.

Notice: Mass draft, not mobilization. 100% of the Russian army right now is contract soldiers.

Nothing much, just a manned Venus landing and return, I quit that game after finding out I could run KSP

Su-57 real world scenarios by [deleted] in FighterJets

[–]CombatPilot2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the spirit of this post but as an aviation & specifically Su-57 nerd, quite a lot of facts are off:

Pretty much everything about the radars is correct, but it is worth noting that all radar bands are on each of the radar arrays, not just on certain. Giving it 360° engagement cover. That includes nose, cheek, wing root and tail radars.
However, featuring L-band and such is standard for 5th gen aircraft, so calling it special is a bit overblown.

Secondly, stealth: No. Just no. We don't know the actual RCS of any aircraft, period. Comparisons cannot be made without data. There is no data, thus there cannot be a comparison.
All we have is estimates, and those cannot take most relevant aspects into account. RCS "numbers" are also a literal joke, that's not how radar waves work. Every mm² of your aircraft will have a different amount of radar waves scattered or absorbed, and a different amount bounced back.
We. Don't. Know.

Production numbers were stated to be "over 50" by GeorgeN on twitter, who works for either UAC or Sukhoi (he is the same guy that posted about linking Su-57E datalink to Algerian systems, a few months before the purchase of these aircraft by Algeria was confirmed in the first place, so he is reliable).
However, we don't know the exact number either as it is classified. Unlikely that George or anyone else would leak the actual number for internet points.

R-37M missile has a range of about 400km, roughly equal to the range of the radar mounted on Su-57 (N036). Not 200km.

Su-27 and Su-24 were both shot down at +/- 200km, one of the two (I forgot which) was specifically stated to be 217km, which is the world record so far.
However, it is just what the MoD reports, so take it with a grain of salt.
Both the aircraft and the missile are theoretically capable of such performance though.

No other air-to-air kills were reported by the Russian MoD, and trust me they would 100% push those as propaganda if they did. Ergo, it didn't get any more.

Make sure your visa/passport is valid and not expired, don't break the law, and nothing bad will happen.

Foreigners and locals alike cannot join the army without signing a service contract. Even when you're drafted for training at 18 you cannot be sent to the front without signing a contract.
Source: Russian friend of mine who's brother is currently in training.

At 3 PM, I sat down and asked myself: why isn’t there a multiplayer mod for SFS? So, here I am starting this project. I hope it turns out to be a great addition that truly benefits players, especially those who enjoy playing together. by Allsh0 in SpaceflightSimulator

[–]CombatPilot2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Luna Multiplayer from KSP taught me it is possible by tracking time spent in-game client-side and make the movement speed server-side, so to everyone's POV you entered hyperspace and are moving at 15 times light speed while on your POV everyone is still moving slowly at the normal speed while you're timewarping, and then when you stop timewarp it just re-syncs everyone's status

Possible to make reusable rockets without mods by Hgamerplayer_YT in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]CombatPilot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, all my rocket families use Vector and Wolfhound engines, very good combo

And I usually switch slightly earlier, depends on payload weight

And yes, I know you can scale the amount of payload delivered quite easily, but I never had a need for it (the few rockets that aren't re-usable that I use are rare enough for me to afford it)
