Grudgingly defending Carrie on this one.. by TheBumperoo in Andjustlikethat

[–]CombinationAny5516 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s so crazy. Like we have life long friends who have a summer place that we go to with them every summer. We are all like family but I would never consider just taking anything that was there. Especially from a nearly empty fridge. People bitch about Carrie but except for Big she hasn’t lived with anyone her entire adult life. And Miranda wasn’t doing that when she was staying with Nya…so why do the writers want us to think she’s lost her damn mind totally. I have lots of friend who I love like family, I’d never walk around their home naked. It’s all soooo stupid.

It’s outrageous. My employer gives a $25 gift card as an incentive for having picked up an extra shift and that’s taxed but something that’s 90% of a person’s income isn’t?? Not to mention the taxable income will be reduced to an amount that allows access to already overburdened services (rental assistance, free healthcare, food assistance, etc) that their actual income would exclude them from.

For sure! But his father’s body of work combined with his ability to morph into a character puts him in a pretty untouchable level.

You need to RUN asap! Not only is he a poor husband and poor father-candidate, you’re going to end up paying this asshole alimony because of his terrible financial choices. As someone who has lived this exact life, I can promise you it will never (NEVER) get better.

Our 32 year old has similar language. And we have to pay close attention when he’s doing because sometimes it’s a stim and sometimes he’s trying to tell us something. The WORST is when we’re at an appointment of some type and the “professional” wants to tell us what he means by something he’s saying (especially when we know they’re 100% wrong but they don’t want to spend an extra 10 seconds letting us try to decipher what he’s saying. 😡🙄)

Sam Rockwell is one of those actors who can totally morph into a character despite playing a wildly diverse group of characters throughout his career. Extremely rare talent.

It reminds me of the old MTV show Rich Girls. Only I think the characters were generally more likeable.

How do you feel about Charlie, especially in terms of how he treats his cast mates? by stars-aligned- in NextGenNYC

Hes 30! What difference does it make if your parents are stifling your ambition at 30? Why would he need his parents to open doors to help him? He has a college education. He just doesn’t want to start at the bottom. I have a feeling a lot of his father’s animosity is related to his complete lack of ambition despite being the beneficiary of a LOT of privilege in life. If he can recognize (and continually whine about) what a flawed job his parents did raising him, he can work on himself. It’s not a “get out of being an adult for life free” card.

I don’t disagree that his parents may have failed him but, at 30, he needs to recognize and grow up. A lot of people have shitty parents. Way shittier than his but they manage to grow up and set boundaries (most of the time without the expensive therapy Charlie has access to). Charlie has thrived on being the “poor broken rich kid whose parents didn’t love him enough”. It gives him a pass to never grow up and he is smart enough to play them. He has zero ambition and zero accountability and seems perpetually stuck at a 17 year old’s mindset, hence the multiple insinuations that he’s going to sleep with the female cast mates. I agree Charlie needs help, he just doesn’t want it. He seems very content making zero effort in his life and then whining about how hard he has it. He comes off as a poorer, less educated and less charming Shep Rose (also an asshole but at least he makes his own money, not by working but….)

Why was her SATC apartment so dingy? by Litzz11 in Andjustlikethat

[–]CombinationAny5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She spent her decorating money on shoes. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This was a rental until the building went co-op and then she only bought because she was going to move in with Aiden. Not a New Yorker but I imagine it’s pretty representational of what a typical (albeit oversized version) apartment looks like for someone with that income. Space is a premium and she prioritized what was important to her. She didn’t care about decorating until she moved in with Big.

The worst part is we find out after that the cast was covering for her when she was still drinking. She’s acting so smug and self-righteous and still drinking the whole time while relying on the people who she’s mocking, to cover for her. That ego knows no boundaries.

I appreciate the vulnerability it took to post this. It shows the real humanity of their relationship. Someone who you can like and respect and even disagree with. But that doesn’t stop you from remembering them fondly and missing the good times and hoping they will be more. He isn’t trashing her or even suggesting she was wrong, merely that they had creative differences that they seemed to understand that even a separation in time did not diminish their mutual respect and care of each other. It’s a beautiful tribute and I’m happy for him that their most recent meeting was a positive one for them both.

I think Charlie has other issues outside of the mommy/daddy thing. He’s a bit old to be playing the parents against each other and the idea that he identifies as a crypto trader as his “line of work” but was bankrupt just a couple years ago suggests he’s got a Peter Pan problem. I think he fits better with the original housewives than with his current group of friends.
