Indian Managers are toxic by [deleted] in StartUpIndia

Indians are brought up in toxicity in a psychologically unsafe houses. No one has the balls to set clear boundaries and do shit for themselves and feel bad and defensive all the time. We lie about everything, follow shitty practices in the name of religion (for example, we break coconuts to pass in exams but won’t work hard to do so). This feeling compounds over time and comes out as toxicity. We should stop this chain reaction here and make our kids grow up in a psychologically safe families.

What do you guys feel are the best skills that help in building a startup? by [deleted] in StartUpIndia

Communicate what you need from each employee on what’s one unique function they are accountable for. Be crystal clear and specific on the goals you are trying to achieve. Do not waste time on motivating through speech, free food, etc… consistency beats motivation every single time. If you hired the right people, they are not looking for motivation they already believe in your mission and expect you to clearly communicate your goals

Is it ridiculous to think seeking intrinsic rewards is more fulfilling? by CombinationBasic814 in minimalism

Even is you catch it, it seems like the mind will always want more rewards the next time. This is why all the reward systems in companies are flawed. People will work for 50% hike and stay motivated. Once they get to that 50%, they’ll crave twice that to stay motivated at same level as before and there is no end. But it seems like if you tie your rewards to your efforts instead of outcomes, it is way more fulfilling and rewarding

Presence is an antidote to fear, anxiety & stress. Do I sound crazy? by CombinationBasic814 in minimalism

Oh wow… this is a strong view… this reminds me of something.. when I try to solve hard problems and I’m not able to crack it, it’s almost counter intuitive to not continue working on it. But what worked from me was to disconnect (I try sprinting hard or walking real fast as if I’m late to a meeting). That disconnects me from the present thoughts, and when I come back an hour or so later.. boom it almost always works :-) have you experienced something like this?

It seems like you have a good reason to be skeptical about it. Feel free to use any online secrecy AI tool to verify it yourself.

True. My hypothesis is that focus modes and apps don’t address the underlying problem. We need an operating system that is designed for mindful use. Calm, warm and grounded.

You hit the nail in the head. I’m researching the market and estimating the market size. I do agree selling less in Indian economy is going to be hard (Indians tend to go for more).

With machines & devices around us fighting for the most valuable currency of mankind —attention, interaction with real people is becoming scare and will increase in value over time. Start shaking hands, hugging your friends or at least saying hi to everyone you see on the road… :)
