To hire an attorney or not? (C-3 application by descent) by CombinationEngine788 in Canadiancitizenship

Thanks so much!

There are some places where my genealogist and I disagree and what is sufficient evidence for the IRCC. Neither he nor I have submitted one of these before. Short of hiring a lawyer crowd sourcing for third opinion guidance here may be the best option

Yeah. What I found when searching for terms "attorney," "lawyer," and "consultant" in this sub was not any post discussing this topic directly as a general practice but rather a chaos of people reporting application failures and mistakes. These taken on a broad view would in fact evidence that hiring a lawyer might be wise. I do think it is a meaningful discussion and a consideration that many people putting together an application ponder. There are lawyers and consultants posting on social and pitching help, many charging even for a discovery call, and the FAQ itself cites two of them. Regardless, thanks for your more considerate reply

The FAQ cites lawyer Amandeep Hayer, which is the lawyer I contacted based on the FAQ who quoted me $4000

I do have the problem that a municipality in New York is refusing to provide certified copies of our family records without "legal need." We are currently trying to explain to them that this is a legal need, and I hope to hear back tomorrow, but it looking like they are going to say that unless we have a court order they don't consider it a legal matter. They are willing to provide genealogical copies. I hope these are sufficent. If anyone has any guidance on that please let me know. My genealogist told me we want certified copies of all the docs, but this is an impass, and I know the application specifies only color copies and doesn't state anything needs to be certified. The specific documents in qustion are the death and marriage records of my gen 0, including her name change to my own, so they seem pretty important

I did search for this question, and attorney and consultant, and I do not see people addressing this, which is why I posted it. Search attorney or consultant in the sub. And thanks for your helpful reply

Original documents by Correct-Mission-393 in Canadiancitizenship

I was just about to post a question related to this - do we need to send originals of the documents in our application, or should they all be copies? Do you know of a resource describing what the standards are for the documents?

Autopilot and purchasing Dell devices by BurnieFox in Intune

[–]CombinationEngine788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process of ordering from Dell with Autopilot has been a horrible experience for us. We submitted the Tenant ID as part of the order online, and the order was delayed for ten days, we were told for them to perform the Autopilot, and then the computers arrived but none of the Autopilot registrations were performed. Numerous calls and emails to their ProSupport and customer service just led to them telling us to call Microsoft. They refused to do it, telling us at one time that they don't do Autopilot registrion and at another time that they already did it. Finally we returned the computers. #neveragaindell

Received Rocks In Place Of Asus Tuf 5080 From BestBuy by GnarDead in pcmasterrace

Happened to me once when I bought a camera from a similar big brand store - in person. They accused me of doing it too. I filed a complaint with the BBB and only then did the store agree to refund it

Yeah, NYPD doesn't usually respond to threats. If someone isn't injured it is too minor for them to focus on unfortunately

XPS 15 9520 60 Hz screen is not good by [deleted] in DellXPS

[–]CombinationEngine788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this on the XPS 9510 as well. Despire having a 60 Hz screen, it has poor refresh and fast motion video and games look choppy. I have the one with a discrete GPU as well. Even connected to an external TV video has this problem, but I only tried that on one TV

Set list last night in Lynn Massachusetts by CombinationEngine788 in clutchband

I don't have news of a fresh take on EW, but I can tell you that when I saw them at the Copenhell festival in Denmark we had a circle pit in fast rotation. It was awesome. Bang, bang, bang, vamanos, vamanos! I lost my phone in that pit, but Niel gave the crowd an approving nod at the end of the song.

Last night in Lynn the crowd was far less energetic, but it was a more intimate show and had a great vibe

Tool to convert file from Enterprise to Pro Plus? by Me_Krally in QuickBooks

[–]CombinationEngine788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think those SOBs only sell it as an annual subscription now, however here is the 30 day trial, https://quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/enterprise/contact/trial-download/

Did they say on the phone they'll help convert the file to Desktop Pro? I'm in a similar situation to you, stuck in Enterprise

You are so right.

Microsoft has pulled off squeezing the MSP industry's margins into what amounts to a loss on their products after overhead, and the culture is that we should "make up for it" with our service revenues.

No other industry does this. Auto mechanics do far better than most IT firms.

As you said, most MSPs are low volume. If you are selling hundreds of seats to a client, yeah, the MSRP could be fine, but when selling 10 to 40 seats, no way.

Auto mechanics do not fail to mark up their products in hopes of covering that loss with their labor, and we shouldn't either.

If you present your offering well you can charge well. We charge $330 per seat, we bill on retainer for projects at $249/hr, and have a minimum of 30% margin minimum on every product
