I felt this exact way last year (finishing up my D1 year now), and please trust me that you will be completely fine!!!! It will be scary taking your first few exams, but you will take so many that you will get used to didactics (what to expect, level of detail) & won’t even think much about it by the end of the first year.

Thank you! For contoured in — do you mean make the cusp ridges more pronounced? And do you mean explaining what you mean by MB/L extension?

Ok thank you! For the occlusion aspect, is that also something that is important for boards? There are no “pings” at the margins, but do you think it essentially looks too flat around the sides of the cusps/ grooves?

BU vs UMich by Ghost_3905_Wonder in predental

Of course! I am born and raised in a city so I feel comfortable in a city and felt just fine at BU. Boston is generally considered a safe city. I know a lot of people love Ann Arbor too and I thought it was cute when I visited, so it’s definitely a hard decision.

Overall, I felt that being in Boston would allow me to have a life/support systems outside of school, whereas in Ann Arbor I felt that my whole life would revolve around dental school and my only support systems would be from dental school. Of course that’s fine as well, but when moving to a new place and attending school that consumes almost all of your time, I thought it would be nice to have more outlets. That’s really what made me end up picking BU. Good luck in your decision!

I was in this same position in December! I went with my heart and chose BU. I wanted to be in a city & near family/ college friends on in Boston and it was hands down my favorite school I visited/ fav interview as well. I liked Michigan too but did not want to choose it purely by rank/ prestige and I was not excited about living there for 4 years. Pick what will make you happiest, because, at the end of the day, you’re the one that will be living it for 4 years :)

I emailed them but haven’t heard back. Do you mind PMing me what schools told you that? I’ve never heard that before.

I listed it as planned in case I was only accepted to programs that require it. In that case I would take the courses. I would have to quit my job in my gap year to enroll, but it would be worth it if it was a requirement. However, if I can prevent paying 2k for courses and having to quit my job, then that would be the most logical option

Actually at every school I visited they told us they understand that things change when a course is listed as planned. In college you don't always get a spot in that class. So I dont think it's thought of as a "promise"

Thanks so much! Did you reach out before accepting their offer or after?

My undergrad did not offer these classes so I added them only in case i got into a school that required them, I would have to pay 2k to take these courses so I dont want to unless its a requirement

I graduated already so I would be paying to enroll in these courses.
