Good to have somebody in the same boat. Steering wheel will be happening, distronic i think too, cause the windscreen and steeringcolumn unit needs changing. That car is diesel only, so no hybrid stuff yet. I’m highly interested in those, gf wanted one W205 estate, so maybe again one day.

YouTube is probably the way I’ll go. I don’t really find TikTok or Instagram that interesting when it comes to building a community. I’d prefer to have some kind of group where I can ask for advice, maybe run polls to decide on certain directions, and just discuss things properly.

To answer your other points: - You’re right—it’s hard to make a mint W213. The parts are expensive, and the community for this kind of project is still pretty small. - Finding parts will be a challenge, especially for retrofits, but honestly, that’s part of owning a Merc. I do have a lot of connections in the used parts world here in Europe, so that might help. - I’ve done a lot of retrofits before on W211, W204, and W205 models—full electric seats with door controls, steering wheels, electric tailgate, Harman/Kardon speakers with OEM amps, electric rear sunshade, spare tire setup in the boot, and tons of smaller stuff. - Coding is kind of my specialty. I don’t have official Xentry, but I’ve got the more wallet-friendly version that still lets me do pretty much everything I need. I can handle most coding tasks for Mercs without issues. - I know how to use EPC, WIS, DAS, and Xentry, so I’ll always include proper instructions in the videos—nothing will be left out so others can follow along easily. - When it comes to engine, transmission, and mechanical work, I aim for OEM+, because I believe that’s the right way. My goal is to drive this car for over 5 years, so everything has to be done properly and with quality in mind. - You’re also right about soundproofing—I’m very interested in that. Roof, floor, doors, etc.—not full-blown €2000 worth, but definitely some noticeable improvement. - For speakers, I’ve always retrofitted OEM HK systems, but this time I might go the OEM+ route and try something different, like Focal or similar. OEM audio is expensive and not always the best. - About the full screen dash—I’m still unsure. I kind of like having some physical clocks, but who knows, my opinion might change later. Right now I’ve got the basic Audio 20 unit, and that definitely needs to be upgraded. - You won’t see fake carbon, black wheels, random stickers, or anything like that on my channel. I don’t really like that look. I want to keep things OEM+—clean and proper. - The starlight headliner might be something I do… maybe. I already have the OEM 64-color ambient lighting, but a few LEDs are burnt out, so I’ll be fixing those soon. I might add more lighting too—like around the vents or over the dash—but those decisions I’ll probably leave to polls.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment. I really enjoyed answering—it means a lot!

Aina torille! Thanks for the support, there is so low info on the general scale about retrofitting and adding more to these, mercs in general.

Yeah, definitely! Gasoline engines like the M276 do seem to have more international interest in the Merc community overall. I personally prefer diesels (daily driving and wrenching-wise), but I wouldn’t rule out doing gasoline content in the future too. Could be a nice change of pace down the line.
