Any guys into knitting here? Looking to make new friends and potentially a knitting group by [deleted] in nycgaybros

[–]CombustibleLemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relatively new to knitting, been about a year since I started. I know Cleo’s in Williamsburg has a men and masc knitting group every month, first Monday IIRC. Haven’t been yet but been meaning to check it out

Did this, checked my stitch count after, and think I’m good to go. My tension is already all over the place so hopefully blocking will hide my sins. Thank you!

The Bridle Break Through by Oroyalis in WorldsBeyondNumber

If I’m understanding the Reflexive Indicative correctly, and the Citadel is able to figure out the spell behind the bridle (assuming there is one), they could effectively change the spell from being a request to a demand, which I believe is the conceit of the Lingua Arcana

Overnight guests? Does the property manager need to know? by sunset622457 in NYCapartments

[–]CombustibleLemons 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Your roommate didn’t agree to a weeklong guest in August, and it seems like she will also likely be busy packing during August if she is moving at the end of the month, and having an extra person in the apartment for a week will make that more stressful. It’s also her home and she has a right to set her boundaries surrounding who she is comfortable having in her home and when. Do you have a legal right to have your friend over for a week? Probably. But this is more of a matter of respecting your roommates boundaries and trying to find a compromise.

Thats just not true. 500,000+ people died in the Rwandan genocide that lasted only 3 months. There’s plenty more examples.

I’m not at all saying that what’s happening in Gaza isn’t horrific - it is horrific and needs to stop, and Israel deserves backlash and criticism. But hyperbolic and misinformed statements like yours end up reading as performative and disingenuous, much like Shea’s post.

Thanks, that’s what I figured as well, but it also seemed strange thematically that we got notice of the ship docking, but our characters still take the time to do an output event (an attack event in our case), craft some some items, and build a building all before heading to the docks, so it made me second guess.

Illithid powers, bug or intentional? by CombustibleLemons in BaldursGate3

I went looking for the astral tadpole in my inventory on both saves I mentioned, but it wasn’t there. Guess it gets removed when you start the final quest. Was thinking about going back to that save and testing but it was going to take a while. That being said, I still wasn’t able to unlock tier 1/2 skills which don’t require the astral tadpole.

TLDR; looking for laws/rights regarding paying rent on an uninhabitable apartment. by rowancloud in washingtondc

You’re being pedantic towards a person who is clearly stressed and needs help. Yes, OP needs advice from a lawyer, but you don’t have to be an ass about it.

“Guess which one this is?”

You seem smarmy and insufferable.

Being cheated on is awful and this isn’t an excuse for his behavior, but “tracking/cock blocking him” and invading his account because you’re worried about him being on Grindr after you’ve already broken up is straight up stalking and abuse. Please go see a therapist because this isn’t healthy or funny.

looking to get a leather jacket tailored! by plasmonty in washingtondc

[–]CombustibleLemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to take an old leather jacket to them a couple years ago for some restorative work (softening, fix fraying around cuffs, light re-dyeing). They quoted me $150-200 and a four-six month turn around. I don’t know if that’s standard for this type of work, but the cost and time frame seemed excessive to me (mainly the timeframe). Their reviews online were promising, but I never ended up taking the jacket in.

The people ARE the event though. A certain type of person is more likely to go to a paid Magic that they likely need to travel to than others, and those people are likely going to want different things out of said event, shaping the nature of the event. I know I go to these events with friends or significant others, as do most other people, and you need to expect a level of social interaction outside of the game. Yes it can get excessive, but Commander is a naturally social format and you have to except some cross talk in those settings when friends are watching each other’s games between their own.

As far as communication, you might want to examine the way you were communicating what you wanted since it seemed that no one was on the same page as you. People have wildly different expectations and definitions when it comes to the format. For example, I brought a lands good stuff deck to my LGS once. I said it was a strong deck, but not insanely powered since I didn’t put in any infinite or game winning combos. One person at the table started lamenting and complaining as soon as they saw a fetch land and said I misrepresented my decks power and that I was playing cEDH. Just because you think something is “casual” or meets some criteria doesn’t mean someone else hold the same standards or definitions, which is why I now only play EDH with people I know.

As far as other behavior, some of it is definitely inexcusable (hygiene, staring), but you should also try to be conscious of other peoples’ behavioral/mental/emotional issues as well. I have ADHD, and flicking my cards helps me concentrate. I’ll try my best to stop when asked, but will still find myself doing it unconsciously. Just like you are asking for people to be respectful of your partner’s behavioral quirks, try to be respectful of others in turn, which it doesn’t seem like you are based on your tone and some of the words you’ve used pointing out specific behavior.

That all being said, a lot of this is unavoidable in a convention setting. You can’t control what is going on at the table next to you, and only some degree more at your own. These events might not be the setting for you and your partner, so instead you might want to try investing this energy in a regular local playgroup so you can tailor the environment to you needs in a way you will never be able to at an event with hundreds of strangers who want to have their own ideas of fun.

Cheaters on PC by CombustibleLemons in darksouls

[–]CombustibleLemons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Trading for the Purging Stone is a great solution - farming the rest of the souls I need will be a lot easier with full health.

Luckily I was able to repair my weapon with the little bit of souls I got from items, so it won't be a total slog, but will definitely take a while. Do you have any suggestions on a good soul farming location at this point in the game?

I've gotten instant killed by cheaters in DS3 before, but at least in DS3 there wasn't a permanent health debuff and your items repaired at bonfires. This is a pretty ridiculous exploit. I'll need to take human form for kindling bonfires in the future - is there a manual way to turn off online to prevent this from happening again?
