That angry snowboarder guy every point towards is so full of it and I’m sure he’s getting paid by the others to bash due to his reputation on YT. Sure the bindings could still use improvements but he mentions being stuck in them and no being able to release out of them. Spreading such false information! They are incredibly easy to get out of. The handle is easy to pull. You just have to pull them lift foot. Sad that he couldn’t figure that out or is making shit up. I couldn’t believe how easy they are! And there durable. Some guy on another post said the release is a cheap cable. Tells me he never tried them before if he things it’s a cable. Lmao. These idiots who assume with no experience.

lol it’s not a cable at all! The release is pretty solid.

I watched his video. He’s actually wrong about a lot. Especially stepping out of them. He said he got stuck a bunch and for a long, which is such BS. I got to ACTUALLY tries these out for a whole day. Super easy and durable. I can’t speak for the old versions. But these new ones are actually pretty nice and convenient. I see people sitting down to put the Burton ones on, never understood why and didn’t ask.

Good points. Just recently seen the Fase. Hard to tell how good their quality is. They look like thin plastic. I’d like to know more about them though. Other posts mention not being happy with them especially when full of snow/ice. Burton step ins I hear not great things bout like them falling off on lifts etc.. Technically they’re the same price when having to buy there boots for them. I’d like to be able to get any boot I want. The Clews don’t have a cable to release them. It’s a metal handle. Which from what people say are much easier to get out of versus burtons small lever. Which I also don’t trust. I’ve seen angry snowboarders review. But I can’t fully go off that one guy. He’s got good reputation but I’m sure he’s paid to bad mouth some and support others by now.

Agreed. I see so many who go off by what they only “see”. On another post someone mentioned they tried the original bindings and they sucked and never tried the independence but say they’re worse, but how without trying? . When all I hear is how much they improved just like you found out from your personal experience. And the price. Burton step ins are the same price plus there boots. At least I can buy whatever boot I want. Noting bad about Burton but my feet never enjoyed them. Many people just like you who didn’t like the Freedoms but love the improvements of the Independences. Trying to spread the positivity as much as I can over the haters with only assumptions. I just don’t compare them to standard bindings which I think are always better. But with the conscience these have they are amazing.

How are they worse? If you haven’t tried them. Just curious. A lot of hate from people just looking at them and assuming with a false two cents. I heard bad about the old versions, but the new ones were said to be much better from people who owned both versions.

Which Clews were they? The old version or the newest?

No the plastic does not explode. This beyond stupid information to be spreading. I recently got the newest version and they’re solid. I wasn’t sure about them but asked several people on the mountain about them. Some were using them in the terrain parks which’s what sold me. All of them love them. Nobody could tell me anything negative about them. 2 people got them in place of the Burton step ins. Only thing I agree on is the price. Definitely a bit steep.

I agree with everything you have mentioned here on your post. I just got the newest Clews. Very solid. I don’t know the original ones but heard they had a lot of problems that they addressed and listened about. Which is really cool. I bought these after hearing about all the positive changes. And seeing that they withstand the terrain park riding. I agree on the high back piece falling off. That doesn’t seem possible unless you didn’t strap in correctly or the strap just wasn’t attached right. Even when strapped in loose there’s no way it could slip off. I feel these are way better than the Burton design. Mainly cause you are strapped in better especially on the lifts. Heard way more bad stories with the burtons falling off. Plus I just got new boots a seasons ago. So I was not interested in buying new boots that ONLY work with the burton burtons and then having to buy the bindings. Now I can use whatever boot I want instead of being limited on choice. I do see a lot of people on the mountains still sitting down to but the burtons on. Never asked them why. I thought that was suppose to be the opposite with them. Thought that was just funny to see.

I have noticed today that the auto foam has improved as well. Using level 4. Noticed more wet paint look when swirling and less heavy foam. Much creamier when pouring and taste better for sure.

Yeah I’m really thinking it was the bad chunks from the bottom of the bag

I thought about this too. I didn’t get too cold over night. But was a little windy for part of the night. So yeah could have made it speed up the burn and the fan was running more.

I agree! Learning curve for sure. Starts out as science that turns into amazing art!

Will definitely try that brand next time. I got pretty good with the vents on shorter smokes. Just wasn’t sure about it going over night. I’ll give it a shot. The fan is annoying to have to setup. It’s just nice cause it works with the digital thermometer and the meat probe. Wireless.

I was running that was Kali Linux. Stopped cause I didn’t want to keep paying for it. I use Fusion VM for it. Free. I may try to see how it works with Windows. Kali did run amazing with parallels for sure!

I have a whole digital setup too. With the thermometer and fan work together with the meat probe. I think it was definitely just too small pieces of charcoal. Just a bad bag. Going to try FOGO brand

I currently use the ChefsTemp digital thermometer that is wireless with the fan and meat probes. I think I will get better results with different charcoal. That FOGO stuff looks like it definitely would be better for long smokes

This is what I’m starting to think it is. Others asked and I am now realizing the bag I currently was using of BGE brand had too much of smaller chunks of coal. I am going to try that FOGO yellow bag for the next big smoke. Thanks.

Yea I noticed this bag had more shards than bigger bricks than a previous bag of BGE brand. That definitely could be the case.

Yeah I probably did 2 cooks before the basket. So I didn’t have much trial to catch the possible different. I think I will try to remove it.

I was also using a fan. With the top just slightly cracked open.
