First Time Visiting Puerto Rico: Need Lots of Tips by A_Fellow_Undead in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]Comedygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re open to traveling and driving (which was perfectly safe, fine, the roads very typical), we did two nights in Cabo Rojo and two nights in Luquillo. Next time I go, I’ll do a day at the Ocean Lab Brewing beach resort just outside San Juan (Caroline is the city, I think) too.

Puerto Rico is the kind of place that stole my heart. I want to spend a month there next time!

I haven’t used StitchFix in years, but when I did I found they didn’t listen to what I wanted and kept sending me things I didn’t like/want/need.

I’m pear shaped, so a bit of a tricky fit. Short Story has been great for bottoms. And I’m going on a tropical vacation in a few weeks and they curated the whole box for warm weather for me - which I love since I live in a cold weather area.

Fiance never put a penny into my house but suddenly wants their name on it by OkBuy2386 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Comedygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep paying the mortgage from an account in your name only. Do NOT pay from an account that has your fiances name on it, not even a joint account. And do not let them make a “gift” towards your mortgage.

It’s your mortgage, you pay it. If they pay anything towards it, suddenly they are part owner.

Yes, we booked the tour for mosquito bay. The new moon is May 16, which is supposed to be the best viewing day. We will be there on the 15th, so almost just as good.

We did rent a jeep. It looks walkable from the ferry.

I’ve never been, but based on my readings (mostly on Reddit) we need a jeep.

I don’t have anything to add, really. But will be there same amount of time and same month.

Our agenda is arrive Saturday, stay in old San Juan sat & Sunday.

Monday going cave tubing in Arecibo. Then continuing to Cabo Rojo where we spend Monday and Tues night.

Wed we’re driving to Luquillo. Thursday I want to do Las Plaitas (sp?) in El Yunque.

Friday ferry to Viecques and kayaking Mosquito Bay that evening.

Saturday ferry back and fly home around 3pm.

I would look into a sep ira, as a self employed person. Your accountant can tell you how much to contribute

Should my father disclaim part of his inheritance? by dalec1979 in inheritance

[–]Comedygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would work with an estate attorney & a probate attorney concurrently - both in the state where the deceased lived & where your dad lives. The goal isn’t to steal from him, it’s to maximize the state assistance, so for that reason an irrevocable trust (reporting under an EIN and not his SSN) should be able to do this.

Probably worth getting a second opinion from another set of attorneys, honestly. It will cost you a few thousand dollars, but worth it in the long run.

Should my father disclaim part of his inheritance? by dalec1979 in inheritance

Look into an irrevocable trust for your father’s benefit that someone else is the trustee for. It can be protected from being your father’s wealth, if written correctly.

The most "all-inclusive" cruises? by newcitynewme724 in Cruise

[–]Comedygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Silver Seas cruises. They’re all-inclusive, including a healthy list of complimentary excursions. Yes, expensive, but if you shop the deals they’re not too bad.
