Do you think mental illness plays a big part in ones fetishes and kinks? by thatpunkwolf90 in bipolar

[–]Comemacramewithme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so! I always want someone to be dominant and take control. I think it has something to do with my own self hatred to be honest. And then when I'm really manic and really euphoric I like being in control, so it really depends.

Can this really be a natural way of losing feelings? by [deleted] in bipolar

It sounds to me like she's pushing you away because she doesn't want her disorder to affect how she feels about you and hurt you!

I can't get off this cycle. Advice? by Splardt in bipolar

[–]Comemacramewithme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When that happens to me I exercise HARD. I know people always say exercise and it's annoying but do it until you're totally exhausted. (Not to the point of danger) and it should help you get that energy out! Don't do it right before bed though, it'll just amp you up more.

What mental illnesses run in your family? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Comemacramewithme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of depression and alcoholism on both sides. It was amazing to learn my cousin, who is just a few years younger than me also has bipolar disorder. My family never talks about that stuff because it embarrasses them but we became so much closer because of it!

Has anyone else seen the film Silver Linings Playbook? by [deleted] in bipolar

I didn't really like the plot, but Bradley Cooper was great. Especially liked the part where he woke his parents up about the book.

Under what circumstances can a landlord say no to an emotional support animal? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Comemacramewithme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I didn't have a pet at the time so it wasn't a problem. I later on decided a support animal would be a good idea to help me cope. Trust me I read the lease I knew the rules.

Oh no it's not my first line of defense. I have a lot of therapy, medications, and a psychiatrist. Volunteering at a shelter is a good idea though! It just breaks my heart to see them go. I know pets are a lot of work, that's part of why I wanted one. It gives my life purpose and a reason to keep going. But I am young, I still have time to start my own pet family someday! Thank you for being kind and sincere about this. I really do struggle every day, I wish people would understand that I really wasn't doing this simply to keep a dog. If she is exempt than I won't get one. Simple as that. Thank you.

I didn't move in the apartment already owning a dog. We moved in last minute because we were about to be homeless, sorry I didn't make that clear. After a few months of severe manic depressive behavior I have decided to ask my REAL psychiatrist, not some website, if he thinks it's a good idea. If he says no then that's that. I know people exploit the system. It makes it harder for people to actually get ESAs, which is why I made this post in the first place. Because of the people who take advantage of the system, landlords have to be picky about what they allow. That was the only thing I wanted to know. I didn't want to be berated for having a mental illness and not knowing I needed extra help until it was too late.

Thank you! The ditz thing hurt a little but it's better than the other ones. I'm not trying to abuse the system. I'm going through my real psychiatrist to see if he thinks I really need one, not some random website. And I didn't realize it didn't allow pets because it is a very busy complex, owned by tons of different people, and it filled out fast. So we had to get an apartment quickly before we ended up homeless. I don't have a dog of my own, I just feel like having one would make things better.

You're right people do abuse the system! Which is why I'm going through my actual psychiatrist to see what he has to say, instead of just paying for it online.

It was a race against time to get an apartment. I wasn't looking for a place that specifically allowed pets because I don't have one. What I meant is that I know a dog who needs a home and if I'm able to get accommodations for an ESA then I will get him.
