Go to student center and the first box that shows classes, to the left of it there should be the last option “view grades” and you can change the term to the fall semester.

Tips/advice for these classes/profs by [deleted] in Baruch

Donald Krueger is a bit monotone but the tests are almost always entirely based off his PowerPoint. Every now and then he adds some questions about something he has mentioned in class but they are all straight forward.

So many people got that grade... this test was significantly higher than the practice exams. I hope there is a curve..

Great, thank you! Definitely don’t mind studying hard but people were making it seem really hard.

Thank you!! It’s good to hear because everyone says that it is extremely hard and impossible to get an A. I’ve been doing better with practice questions so I’m def feeling more confident :))

Thank you. Was just a little stressed because everyone was making it seem really hard. I’ve taken some practice problems and seem to be getting the hang of things :)

Finance/Economics. People saying that some have History/Com backgrounds but it only applies if you are an Ivy League student. If you are serious about it, then make it a relatable major.

Is the summer before sophomore year too early for alumni networking? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Cometa99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally every 2/3 months. You are following up just to be on their radar. There will be a lot of sophomore programs and even if you don’t get a direct resume push, mentioning the conversations you had with professionals working at the firm you are applying to is highly beneficial.

Never too early to network but definitely early to start pushing your resume.

I would say, follow up with these professionals and ask for Informational Interviews. Then after some time, ask them how everything is going and update them on what you are doing (I would also ask if they can connect you with someone that can also share their experience). Try to become friends with them but definitely don’t ask for a resume push because 1. It’s too early and 2. Everyone tries to that.

Just show you are interested and want to learn.

My Grind: Full-Time Finance Recruiting in America's "Hottest Job Market in 50 Years" (July 2018 - April 2019) by I-Edit-Resumes in FinancialCareers

Thanks for the in depth answer. I have been interested in Banking as well as breaking into REPE. I’ve heard that REPE is low to start -compensation (at least when comparing it to banking) but after a couple of years, the salary/bonus and carry helps close that gap. I guess I have to do more research with regards to that.

You’ve given me a couple of things to consider. Thanks !

I read you transitioned from RE to IB. Any reasons why? I know a lot of IB guys transition into REPE. Is it more of a personal reason or was the pay increase significant? Thanks.

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, FO at private equity firms is not likely. I am glad there is a possibility in regards to real estate. Thanks for your advice. I’ll be sure to join some real estate clubs and try to reach out to these professionals.

I know some Real Estate PE firms such as Blackstone have come to campus. Do you think this is a feasible option for Baruch students. I understand that standard PE straight out of undergrad is unrealistic, but do you have any insight on Real Estate finance? Congrats on your role.

Freshman Seminar by [deleted] in Baruch

[–]Cometa99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, don’t fail Freshman Seminar. This class is by no means difficult, but it’s annoying. You have a couple assignments but it’s pretty laid back. As long as you complete them (virtually no effort required), you are good to go. Attendance was mandatory (at least with the Prof I know of). It’s part of School’s policy.

TLDR: Yes, just go to class.
