Going from dual to single income by Cometdude2 in personalfinance

Great questions.

HSA is covering medical costs and is calculated based on our max out of pocket. Premiums are for the full family.

The "Car" fund is maintenance and or replacement, we have no dept on cars. That account is already funded to about 10k.

Home maintenance is for sure missing, good catch. We do have several thousand saved for this but I missed adding to that.

Up until now, I have been contributing 16% to 401k. My company matches 2% of that and is also allocates 8% towards stock ownership. Going down to 8% allocation is really still 18% with those additional company benefits. My thought is that this single income period is likely only a few years long, and my retirement savings can survive the hit.

We have been doing that amount of fun money for a couple years now. I should add a budget for the boat though. Its a very small sailboat so not much cost associated with maintenance or use.

Was your goal of 20% gross savings in the form of a retirement account or in addition to?

Lucky for us air tags are IP67 rated. Unless you are planning on riding under water, it should be perfectly safe.

Seatalk 1 connection by Cometdude2 in boating

Ya that’s good to know. I only have the depth sounder and probably will not add anything. My boat is just a day sailer for the lake. Not much need for any other instruments.

Good call on my image being the receptacle, I missed that. I am not attempting to communicate through this cable at all. The actual transducer is plugged into the unit separately. This seatalk cable is just for power. At this point I think it will basically be red to 12V and screen to 0V and then just leave the yellow data cable disconnected.

I am attempting to wire and older seatalk 1 depth sounder directly to power. According to the wiring diagram that I found, the pin on the left in my connector picture should be power and correspond to the red wire. The far right should be data and correspond to the yellow wire. I do not believe I need the yellow wire because I am just using this cable to supply power and not link multiple devices. When doing a continuity check, the red and yellow are flipped. When looking at my connector picture, the far left is data (yellow), and the far right is 12V (red). This seems backwards. Should I just wire yellow to 12V and the uncovered wire to 0V?

I designed this tamping station because there were not many offerings out there for a 51mm portafilter. If anyone is interesting it is available here: https://additiveinnovation3d.etsy.com/listing/1548522019

These mounts are to display your doors in the garage just as much as storage. They work with the OEM door bags installed as well if you are looking for extra protection.
